JJW Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Hi everyone, I am making a Jerry Only bass, the bass has a double p-bass pickup (you can see in the link). I am not to sure on how to do the electricals. What would be a good way to put in the double p bass pickups and what sort of price would I be looking at? joeystrange Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 If you want to do it like Jerry's then just wire them both to the jack. The price depends on what pickups you want, I guess. Jerry's sound is all high mids and almost nothing else. I don't know which pickups will get you near that sound though. Sorry. Quote

Repeat for other p/up; job done. Quote

They come with a wiring diagram for a standard P bass and indicate the colour coding for hot and ground. I would suggest finding someone close by willing to show you the 101 soldering/electrical ropes and guide you through this. It's not rocker surgery, but, with all the different p/up and jack models around, it's difficult to give precise help. Publish your location, perhaps (either here or in your Profile...), and maybe some photos of the p/ups and jack would be useful..? Some kind BCer may be close enough to lend a hand. Beware, too; many EMG p/ups are active, and require battery power to work. Quote

The reason I mentioned the EMG pickups is because they are a good price and they are not the battery ones. I have made a couple of basses in the past but I had someone else sort out the wiring for me. Quote

cameltoe Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 If someone can just send you a jack with the hot (white) and ground (black) wires already soldered on, you could just connect to your pickups with terminal blocks, the method our KiOgon uses. This will allow you to swap p'ups too if you needed. I would send you this, but I used the last of my parts creating my bitsa project which incidentally, used a Precision pickup wired straight to the output jack. Quote
