Ruck
Recently I have received pedals that I have bought from basschatters costing around £80-£120 and they are just posted in Jiffy bags with no extra protection. What are these people thinking??? luckily the pedals have been fine but having worked in a post office sorting warehouse, this kind of "hope for the best, save as much on postage costs" thinking is just irresponsible... Any one else have this experience before? if there anything to worry about sending pedals like this or am I ranting over nothing? KingBollock
There's no excuse for it. I have never once bought bubble wrap but I have tons of it, and those bigger air bags and various size boxes, all saved from stuff we have bought online. And it's not like it is any great expense to buy something suitable anyway, especially when sending stuff priced as you say. I recently received a dirt cheap Zoom B1on and it was so well packaged I wouldn't have worried if I had dropped it down the stairs. I mentioned the fact that it was so well packed in the feedback I left for the seller. Why risk it to save a few pennies?
chrismuzz
Lots of people don't think about it.. Even bass direct! You should always wrap pedals in bubblewrap before sticking them in the box for sending. Sure they're designed to be trodden on, stuck in a case then chucked into a van/car/etc but that's not the point!
Maude
The best I've ever received was a bass from ebay, the seller just put it in a single black bin bag and taped the top shut round the headstock. How it wasn't damaged I'll never know.
Cameronj279
I think one piece of feedback I received a while back describes my packaging as "unorthodox but effective!". I basically buy a big roll of bubble wrap and wrap it a good 10-15 times. Even if it's a cheap pedal. I do the same for basses as well. If someone is paying for delivery (which I generally factor into my price) then why the hell should I skimp on packaging!? Glad to say that I can't think of anything I've received from members on here that wasn't excellently packaged.

Fortunately it was in a hard case (which at the price I paid I considered a freebie) so it was ok.
Roland Rock
A good tip for pedal packaging. Go to a supermarket pharmacy and ask for some of their inflatable medicine packaging. A standard pedal fits perfectly and the pedal has a fun zorbing experience on its way to its new owner.

Some advice from Thomann attached for returning items, which seems to exceed the standard they use to ship out. Note the bubble warp and the need to survive a 1 metre drop! JapanAxe
I always keep a supply of boxes and recycled bubble wrap in my loft. My worst packaging experience was a Tele-style neck (with tuners) sent to me in a single layer of bubble wrap. The postman decided this would go through my letter box, so duly rammed it through. I returned home unaware and started to open my front door, and the neck jammed between the outer and inner doors (we used to have 2 doors - long story). I didn't know what it was so carried on forcing the door. Imagine my surprise when I found out what the obstruction was, and discovered that 2 of the tuners were now bent beyond repair. Oh how I laughed (not).
KevB
Probably not a bad test, if a pedal isn't up to jiffy bag+British postal service then it's probably unfit for serious gigging
cheddatom
I've had quite a few pedals shipped to me like this and never thought much of it!

A sheet of cardboard had been taped to the bottom, then it had been placed in a black bin bag and taped shut.
tonyquipment
I always box any item up that I want to send through the network. Seen some hilarious items pass through the depots though when I worked for a courier .. A laptop with a routing label and document wallets (probsbly invoice or order details) stuck to it, no box or bag or bubble wrap. Fortunately we didn't play frisébee with it but we could have. There was no porn on the laptop.
