Take a look at my rare 1980 Aria Pro II (car boot)

My dad picked this up from a car boot many years ago for next to nothing. It's sat in his bedroom for years without really being played. I have played bass for a while and used to go round to his to try an amp out or something and would say "Dad, where is that sh*tty old bass" and would give it a go. It actually played really well but I thought nothing else of it (thinking it was a cheap £100 bass from years back and thought Aria Pro II was crap).

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I took it home to identify as I could not find one in the Aria Pro II online resources. I assumed it had had a paint job as I found nothing ANYWHERE on the internet or old brochures about this colour.

After a post on the Jap forum, turns out it's an SB-600 from 1980 and has a set neck and is in tobacco sunburst. I did some more googling and found ONE small photo which was the same. Anyone else seen one of these?

It's lost its orig pickup and switch, but I have seen aftermarket pickups for Aria Pro II's which should work fine so will go about restoring it. Cracking neck on it!!!

Anyway, thought I would share. Weird neck sunburst too!

That is an amazing car boot find. Never seen that finish before.

There's info & pics on the SB600 (and all the rest) on Graeme Fyfe's resource:

Can't see the same finish as yours though but it appears on some of the other models.

Here's one from the Basschat archives to show you what it should look like http://basschat.co.u...cknatural-l225/

Another of 'Uncle Mat's' (as in built by Matsumoku - a very decent Japanese factory). Enjoy! :)
