bartelby
This looks like it could be quite interesting: "[color=#000000][font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][size=2]The Ampeg SCR-DI Bass DI with Scrambler™ Overdrive is a true Ampeg preamp, delivering a wide range of Ampeg tone perfect for the stage. The classic Ampeg EQ offers additional tonal control including Ultra-Hi and Ultra-Lo tone shaping. Plus, you can dial in tube-like grind with the all-new Bass Scrambler overdrive. The SCR-DI has all the connections to get Ampeg tone out of any rig and send it all to front-of-house to ensure the audience hears your tone. With a built-in headphone out and aux in for practicing along with backing tracks, the SCR-DI is also a fantastic practice tool that can fit right into your gig bag. dannybuoy
Hmm, the Scrambler was an octave up fuzz if I recall that didn't sound very good on bass to me. Since they've named it a 'Scrambler Overdrive', let's hope it's a different circuit that only shared the name!

bartelby
[quote name='Jus Lukin' timestamp='1421956825' post='2667164'] OK, so it's definitely a grit maker! You could suggest that the pedal is, give or take, the new BA115 preamp in a box. Sounds pretty damn good to me though, and the simple functionality really appeals. Colour me interested! dudewheresmybass
Presumably their (late) response to the vtdi etc. price point is the key thing as already mentioned

Iheartreverb
Does this mean there's gonna be an influx of VT Bass's and Sansamp's hitting eBay fairly soon then?

Marvin
Hope it's at 'the right price', it's a really versatile piece of kit. I'd get one as long as it's not too pricey
uncle psychosis
According to this the price is $279, so I'd expect it to be more than £200. It will have to be really, really good at that price. http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/21985-ampeg-unveils-the-scr-di

The Scrambler side needs to be good to justify that, for sure.

Sibob
I'd rather use a 3leaf Enabler (smaller footprint) and a drive pedal of my choice. Si
Badass
Si I'd love one of those but having to use a walwart really puts me off. I think it's the only downfall of the 3leaf Enabler.
BLEEHD
I was able to get an interview and hands on with the device and get some answers to some I heard from some people online, like how it is based on the BA line of amps. Check out this write up about it and where to order it for less than the $199 price that everywhere else is charging right now. uncle psychosis
$199 at sweetwater and musicians friend. Much better than $280! Interesting to see if it stays at that price.
