MarkG3 Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I must have missed something with the price I thought it was about £1300. £666 is way better! Quote
police squad Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 at that price I'll have to buy one. My brother's band supported Maiden on an Italian tour when Bruce first joined and I've been a SH fan ever since. Plus I support WHUFC. COYI Quote

COYI
Lifelong Hammer and Maiden fan, toying with idea - interesting at MIM price. Pre-orders seem to be nearer £900 but maybe that will change once it's actually out there. karlfer Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Reading that email from Bryce several times now (copied in post#19) , I THINK!! WHAT HE MUST MEAN IS THAT the US street price is $999.99, which EQUATES TO £666, at the current exchange rate. So, by the time shipping, VAT, import is added they probably are going to be around £950 on our shores And a bloody long wait! Might just get that Chinese knock off which looks exactly the same, from Ali Express at £300 delivered , even putting on new bridge/pups/tuners............. Quote
police squad Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 The Fender website says it's got a 2 piece maple body!! Surely not. I like the tinted headstock, looks like the nicotine stained 70's headstocks Quote
dudewheresmybass Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Steve's number one has a maple body according to mike kenney Quote
police squad Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015
Steve's number one has a maple body according to mike kenney
Really? is it a Fender body? what year is his #1 bass? Quote
DaytonaRik Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 His #1 bass is a '71 according to an interview in Guitar World - http://www.guitarworld.com/steve-harris-and-dave-murray-iron-maiden-open-1988-guitar-world-interview?page=0,1 Quote
police squad Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 cool, I always thought it was a 50s bass. Thanks fo the info Quote
fretmeister Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Maple body? That's going to weigh a metric shitload! Quote
epic576 Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 If I've misread forgive me, wasn't Steve's #1 made out of big leaf maple due to a shortage of alder, which made it weigh a 'metric shitload? I've got a Westone Thunder p-bass with a solid maple body that weighs a ton so I'd assume the weight of this new model could be around the same? Quote
cocco Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 My old grabber had a maple body. That thing had some serious growl. This bass keeps getting better and better. I just hope the QC is good on it. Quote
jezzaboy Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 They reckon it is a 74 made from Western big leaf maple as epic correctly stated. And the tone control on all his stage basses are disconnected to prevent moisture getting into the electrics. So if you get one of these new ones and the tone control does sod all, it is a genuine sig model For more info on Steve`s bass and rig, get a copy of BGM, issue 83, October 2012. Quote
epic576 Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 That was the exact issue I have a copy of, digital mind you. Disconnected Steve's may be, I can't see Fender doing it on the sig... Quote
police squad Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Just to revive this old thread. My Steve Harris signature is due today Quote
