Freddie75
Hi guys, Just wanted to know if anyone has experience of using one of these amps as a poweramp using a different preamp and if its even possible to do so? I want something I can rack so its a toss up between a powerful but cheapish bass amp or a standalone poweramp. My streamliner has a preamp input but I'm unable to rack it as cant find a rackmount kit for the life of me. Looking at the rear of the Hartke (photos) - it doesnt appear to have a preamp input and dont have experience of using 'effects send' etc - so can I plug my vtype preamp in on the back anywhere? Sorry if this is a stupid question! Thanks Freddie Edited January 23, 2015 by Freddie75
paul_5
Generally speaking the FX send and return will be post preamp/EQ, so plugging an external preamp into the FX return should do what you want it to.
Freddie75
Wonderful - thank you Paul. Regards Freddie
fretmeister
Took me a year to find a rack unit for my Streamliner. I feel your pain.
Raggy
The LH1000 is quite a weighty beast though!!!

fretmeister
Not a chance! I had to get mine from the US via American friends as the only US dealer I found who had one wouldn't ship outside the country. Its not really a rack mount, it's a massive tray that bolts to the amp from underneath. Shipping cost a fortune in the end!
Conan
You should buy an LH500. In fact, you should buy mine!

BassBod
The front end is pretty much the same as the Vtype - just try one anyway..you'll probably like it!

That's a good price! It won't come with a rack-bag though...
BassBod
Conan - I'm very tempted by yours, even though I don't need it!

[/quote] True, the schematic topology is similar - So I'd go with just getting a big beast like the LH1000 - though the LH500 is no slouch. Other than being heavier than D Class offerings, it's practically unbeatable with reference to 'value for money'.
