Should add the obbm is the BC member who has a cable making service called bassic-bits marketed as RockWire. He's a total gent, makes wonderful cables to your spec, and he really knows his stuff, he can fix your Neve desk which is quite a speciality!

With good quality cable and and good connectors, there shouldn't really
be too many breakdowns. The connectors should be industry standard neutrik
and Klotz quality cable. I've had one cable failure and it was replaced free of charge
by the engr who made them as this was ( still is..? ) Klotz policy.

Probably the best instrument cable available is by Phil Jones, but at a price. OBBM is probably the best price / performance ratio. It depends how serious you want to get :)

Speaking of Klotz cable, I once had OBBM send me a cable of Klotz instead of the usual Vandamme, and I found it horribly stiff and annoying. I always specify Vandamme with him now. I don't know if it was a one off nasty cable?

I use the Van Damme Silent Neutrik leads. They've been very reliable so far and come with 'silent' jacks which mute the signal when coupling/removing the jack. Very reasonable, good quality and you can easily get them on eBay.

OBBM cables are great and I've also used www.designacable.com completely customised cables with quality components and loads of different colours if that's your thing.

Also try Cream cables by The Chord Company. They are a UK audio cable company who's technical design guy plays bass. I use them and find them to be great quality without silly prices.

My Klotz cable leads are a lot smoother than an alternative that my studio guy..who makes them..
gave me. He was annoyed with Klotz as he had a duff lenght of cable, so he got another cable
supplier, ( can't recall the name ) and that is quite stiff and rigid by comparison, and he soon went
back to Klotz.

All his studio is wired out with the same cable and I would never call it rigid or stiff by any stretch..

Don't get Fender ones with the white ends, they're pants!

I've had a pretty good experience with them, all of us in my band use them and not had a problem!

Bought two - neither lasted more than 3 months.......
Only decent named lead that I've ever had go bad on me in 30 years.

I had an engineer make me up a Neutrik and Van Damme cable up over 20 years ago. It's outlasted every other piece of kit I've ever bought, and I'm still gigging with it.

If OBBM's using these brands then I'd say you'll not go too far wrong with one (or even a couple) of his.

For patch cables I swear by George L's though.
