tall_martin
Got some cash burning a hole in my pocket. I play in an originals band- rocky, indie, popstuff. I play funk and lovevthe bach cello concertos at home on my own. Tried a 5 string - sold it as I'm lazy and couldn't be bothered to adapt my technique. Would love a warwick dolphin/ any warwick. Have- g and l tribute, vester thumb copy, yamaha Rex whith a Seymour dunking precision pick up, 79 music master. What donor suggest trying next? Cheers Martin
Dad3353
Good evening, Martin... I'd suggest something a bit different. These 3 are within your reach, financially... Truckstop
There's two Yamaha BB1024's on this forum for £500 at the moment. Personally, I prefer the Caramel Brown but I suppose the Vintage White one with the scratch plate is more traditional. Great basses! Passive, PJ, great construction; nails the vintage vibe. Well balanced, not designed to be lightweight basses but not prohibitively heavy either. Truckstop
tall_martin
Cheers for the ideas! I've had a look at the yamahas, tried a.couple of bb 424 and liked the way they played. Is the 1024 much different? It seems the same but with " better " workmanship. I tried a double buck corvette and chose my g and l over it as the warwick was a 5 string s With very tight string spacing.

thebuckets
cheers Guys, its me with the Caramel Brown 1024 up for sale. I've not bumped it because I'm a bit loath to let it go! Its the best passive P I've played. Only the fact that I smashed my Left hand in a cycling accident that's making me think medium or short scale might be the way to go. the x version is 'more traditional' in that it makes it look more fender like but the non x is true to the original BB series. I bought new and had my choice I just prefer the uncluttered look of the original bb the 1024has quite a few improvements over the 424 but that is still an impressive bass, hard to beat at its price point
Kev
Any flexibility on your budget? Now is a great time to by Warwick basses as the market is quite bluntly on its arse. At the cheaper end there is this http://basschat.co.uk/topic/254588-warwick-fna-jazzman-4-nirvana-black-made-in-germany-2005/page__hl__warwick__fromsearch__1 but an extra £400 or so will get you a NT in the current market, silly money for a very, very good instrument.
