Snook Posted January 25, 2015 Share Posted January 25, 2015 (edited) Hi guys, Looking to move on my EB-3, fantastic bass however it just isn't me. This is a really nice genuine vintage bass, that is in good condition for its age. Looks fantastic! Bass as far as I can tell is a 1965, if not it is certainly from around that period. All looks to be original apart from case and selector switch. I bought this as I liked the short scale, thin neck, narrow string spacing as I have recently taken to this. This one really is fantastic to play and very easy to play too! At some point in its life a previous owner has slimmed/narrowed the neck so it is now not as wide as it would have been from factory, this has been very well done in my opinion makes it easier to play than others although is personal preference. Serial numbers reads: 279859. Which would suggest 1965. Pots all look period correct/original, although actually date to 1949-1954. Bridge is later design introduced in 1965 hence why I think its a 1965. This hasn't suffered a neck break as a lot of these do, nice solid original instrument with lots of vintage factor!! Bass comes in a newer Gibson case which fits very well. Currently strung with flatwounds. Bought it as with narrow spacing it compared nicely to my Kingbasses and liked it for the vintage sound it gives, however it isn't going to get used enough. Looking to get a realistic market value for this, looking at £1250. Based near Yeovil in Somerset. Can you be specific as to what has been done? Have I misunderstood Presumably this was before the refin? The only shot of the neck seems to have finish on it.
