toneknob
The story so far... (see also http://basschat.co.uk/topic/244008-kate-bush-at-the-hammersmith-apollo/page__st__90) I see Kate Bush at the Hammersmith Odeon last year, and get the hots for one of John Giblin's basses. Turns out it's a Takamine TB-10. Wunjo's are listing them on their website, so I go in to check one out. Unfortunately they sold the last one a couple of months ago, funnily enough to the bloke from Kate Bush's band. Oh well, never mind. I keep my eye on basschat classifieds, eBay etc Then last Sunday I get a call from my friend who works at Wunjo, usually in the guitar shop but he's doing a shift in the bass shop that day. Now surplus to requirement, JG has sold back the Takamine to Wunjo, do I want to come along and check it out. Cue cloud of dust, swinging saloon doors, etc After a couple more visits (the day after, and the day after that) a PX deal is agreed and the Tak's now mine. During conversation, I ask Tom the manager if he's aware of basschat, "oh very much so", and I pass on the good things that I keep reading here about the shop in terms of service, stock and prices, and by the way add my name to the list of admirers. he goes on to say that the ongoing support and custom of basschat is a very significant reason why they can keep on doing what they do. So well done basschat, and well done Wunjo. (The Tak's very nice btw)
Marc S
Glad you like your new bass Not seen or heard one myself But it's great news that you got the bass you really wanted I keep spreading the word about BC too It's a great forum Sheesh, I'm amazed you can afford a bass after buying a Kate Bush ticket! lol Enjoy that bass
Kiwi
It's great to see Wunjos getting some recognition for going the extra mile. I slip in there occasionally incognito just to see what they've got hanging on the walls. Great move on the Tak also, I had a look at them over Christmas. They're very sexy looking for an acoustic but not cheap.
Clarky
Nice story and fair play to all. FYI, I found the hard case prohibitively heavy to gig when I had a Takamine B10 and found a full-sized cello bag was perfect (Dave 'Essential Tension' did the same with his B10). I used a pricey Fusion full-size padded cello bag (very well padded) like this http://www.alangregory.co.uk/music/Fusion_F2_Cello_Gig_Bag.html but I bet there are other available that are not so wallet-unfriendly
toneknob
I found the hard case prohibitively heavy
Haha, I discovered that the hard way on the tube home. Still it's spacious enough for me to rent it out in Zone 3 for £850 a month. Thanks for the gig bag tips - it's really good to know that there are alternatives available. Regarding B-10s - I hope I'm not out of order posting this and will delete if required - in my homework I discovered this on eBay, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271741958638 - am I right in thinking that the AD-1 preamp is digital and tubeless - thus making this guitar a B-10? Clarky
It may have been swapped in that eBay bass but the B10 had a tubeless preamp while the TB10 had a preamp with tube (I assume thats what the T suffix relates to). In all other respects the TB10 and B10 are identical, I believe
Skybone
Sounds like you need to drop Mr Giblin a line (possibly via Wunjo?), and get a sined letter from him to prove that your new Tak was in fact the one he used on the Kate Bush gigs. You never know when it might come in handy.

JamesBass
Every time I visit the capital I make a point of going to Wunjo's! I LOVE it there, the guys are all utterly fantastic and their service is second to none! I've spoken with all the lads who work there about BC and they love it! Might have to get in touch with Wunjos about an amp soon...

They've got a good selection of MarkBass, Ashdown and others there as well...
JTUK
Don't want to burst anyones bubble here but when I talk to retail outlets they aren't generally aware of this forum and the ones that are tend to be the more professionally orientated and they may get feedback from clients who haven't had a great time here. This might be in some way connected to the ability here of some to chase away a few top name players who have dipped their toes in and then decided it wasn't for them, So, if serious players don't take the forum seriously, then I doubt neither does the industry, apart from the fact .. and this is by no means unimportant, that you may have an outlet to 10,000 of so members. How many of those are very active will probably determine the real value, to them, of this place.
organic
Bought my Gretsch Tennessee Rose off Wunjo, good price and 2 years free service, which I needed a year in as the tone knob kept falling off (pot needed replacing). Excellent service department there.
Etienne
Another shoutout for Wunjo here! I always try to make time for a look round there when I'm in London, and inevitably end up buying something when I do! The staff are always friendly and chatty, and nothing seems too much trouble for them. This was a real shock to the system at first- I'd had a couple of unpleasant shopping experiences when the premises used to be the Bass Cellar, so I really wasn't expecting to be treated like a human being... how nice to be proved wrong!
Funnily enough, that's exactly what I'm after! And even more funny is that when I used one live once, it did indeed jump off the cab!! Though that was more due to the sound engineers positioning of it, he had it right on the rear of the amp with a slight overhang!

Beedster
I've been buying stuff in Denmark St. since the early 80's and Wunjo's blew me away first time I walked in there and haven't disappointed since, I just wasn't expecting friendly, helpful and respectful staff in the street in question. Keep it up guys Chris
