I was going for a fairly standard precision type bass, I'm leaning towards torty for the plate, and probably just dots on the board, something along the lines of a '63 p-bass but as a five string, I think I'm going to have to start saving/selling stuff to get the money together, I've just had to fork out for a new car as the old one fell to bits so it will be a little while before i can pull the trigger on a new bass.

we'll need another north east bass bash when your Jake arrives wateroftyne !

I really want a Pino clone and want it to be pretty pink. It's either this guy or Limelight. Not sure who to go with.

I have the Maruszczyk that WoT tried and it isn't that far off a Pino clone (colour, woods etc) but it has a cream DiMarzio installed with a series/parallel switch! ;)

It's a much nicer colour in the flesh but you get the idea. ;)

While I wait for mine to be delivered (back end of next week, maybe?), Warwickhunt has very kindly lent me his Fiesta Red Classic Jake for my gig tomorrow night,

I've just spent most of the evening plunking away on it - I can't put it down. It's absolutely wonderful.

I shall report back tomorrow...

Here's some pics I've taken of Warwickhunt's Jake. As I mentioned earlier, it's a beaut.

The swept-back headstock is a great idea. You don't notice it until you see it in the flesh...

You guys are not helping with my GAS for a sonic blue p-bass! I think another North east Bass bash might be in order so that we can drool over these basses in person!

A guy in my lab is Polish... so I already know ;)

a Polish colleague explaining to me how to pronounce this... :P

(the 'y' was some kind of hybrid between i/e, closer to 'e' actually)

I'm not sure if it was this thread, but someone gave excellent pronunciation advice - if you can say "pushchair", you can pronounce "szcz" in Maruszczyk.

I'm going to write it down and ask my eldest's schoolmate's Dad, he's Polish :)

Back to the bass. I think WoT's new bass looks WAAAAY better than the Lakland and I really like the Lakland.
