I've just read through the entire thread and now I think my next bass HAS to be a Maruszczyk...
subrob
Deal me in. Some of you may have spotted this sexy beast on social media. She came home today, courtesy of Mark and Co at Bass Direct (thank you Mark!). General spec: Alder body Quilt maple top (I had a choice of quilt maple blanks via email, which was ace) Blue burst finish Rock maple neck, lacquered Birds eye maple fretboard Hipshot tuners Luminlay blue side dots (amazing!) Delano alnico P/J pups Delano Sonar 3 MSE 3 band pre w/ pull to toggle passive on the volume pot She's beautifully assembled and finished. Sounds great! Very very light, too, and not the faintest hint of neck dive... 5 years in the making, I'd been thinking of ordering this bass from Carvin, but having mostly lurked on BC for some years, I'd totally missed Maruszczyk. I never went with Carvin as I just couldn't take a punt unseen - I'd gone into Bass Direct to try a nice blue/ black Spector - only to find i didn't like the neck or the sound at all (sorry, Spector fans!). Then Mark put a stock P/J in my hands, and this is what we came up with...

[/quote] Yes, I saw this on FB - clicked straight on the link to the shop & wondered why it didn't come up! Gorgeous bass - looks awesome & will no doubt play & sound so too! Might have my own incoming shortly...... (Ps; there is a Maruszczyk thread in 'Gear Porn' - this bass would be a most worthy addition to that!) Fisheth
Selling off my Lakland to put towards a 5 string Jake... I was going to get one earlier in the year, but at the last minute I was offered an SVT instead. Hm, might go for something a bit less flashy, like a Red P instead of a sunburst, primarily so I can be low key in musical/band situations when required. Wilco
Well it's arrived & it is bloomin' lovely..! The necks are just amazing on these basses - so playable. Both mine have a 14" fretboard radius & I like that flatness! Low action & no fret buzz either. Sounds are spot on Jazz bass - on some steroids. Look is going to be too 'coffee table' for some, but I like it & the individual aesthetics you get with Maruszczyk's are a great feature of the brand I reckon. A pic in the gear porn thread, but I'll try & do a better one at some point!

CameronJ
It's becoming more and more apparent that I need to get my backside over to BassDirect at some point in the near future and try some of these basses out in the flesh. Wilco
So, I was on my hols chillin' which gave me time to read all this thread - yep, every page.....! One thing it gave me was some good history on my Elwood 5 string. Looks like BC member AREA purchased it on a visit to Adrian's shop in 2015. Then last year I think another BC member, Bubinga5 (Andrew), bought it from him. The original spec had chrome knobs, Delano pickups & a Glockenlang pre amp. Not sure who changed the knobs & Glockenlang, but Andrew put the current Bartolini pickups in it. The knobs are now 'Fender' style & the pre amp is a Delano 2 band. I became the third owner in March this year when I travelled up Evesham way to buy the bass from Andrew. I know personal to me as I own the thing, but understanding some of its history i found quite interesting! I think AREA has switched to Sire's, & that's the brand I switched away from to get the Maruszczyk's - funny how it goes. The other i thing I noticed was that despite this being a massive thread, there's not too many contributors. I reckon it's current owners trying to keep the brand under the radar, so that Adrian's builders aren't too busy when they place an order! Lol Perhaps just an exclusive club that once you've got one you 'get it' & then trust the brand. (Ps; for anybody interested, I've started a 'Maruszczyk Owners UK' group on Facebook, to compliment this great BC thread) Edited September 12, 2017 by Wilco
1thoms1
Hi guys, was just wondering, when you ordered through Adrian, how did you know about the advancement in the making of your bass ? I ordered in July, Adrian was a bit vague about delivery time and didn't get much news from him since then. Did he just messaged you when the bass was ready ? After one week and ten of this silence, Adrian said, “Let there be light,” and the holy sofa shot descended from the heavens. Man saw that the sofa shot was good, and separated light from the darkness.
