BILL POSTERS
My daughter has let the key battery run flat in her 2003 Fiat Stilo. I have replaced the battery but need to synchronise the key with the car. Last time this happened a ( in my Ford Cougar) a friendy mobile mechanic looked in a big book and told me the sequence. Something like turn the key, toggle the door switch 3 times then open the window and close the door while standing on one leg. I’m hoping theres a similar procedure for the fiat, to save me paying a main dealer hundreds to carry out a simple procedure, or paying a heel bar the same. Tried the interweb and forums etc but had no joy.
yorks5stringer
Might it be like this? I'll forward it to her and let you know if it works. I am forever in your debt mate. I wonder where you get the 4 digit code from though. yorks5stringer
When I had Fiats (10 in all) you used to get a little card with the code on (or was that for the radio code?). Alternative is to go to an Indy Fiat Garage who will not charge her Stealer prices. Just reading some of the threads on the subject, someone put in a new battery and left the keyt in the ignition switched on and it paired up itself after 30 mins..might be worth trying. I have Alfas now and they may be different but a flat battery does not affect the pairing process for the immob... yorks5stringer
So is it just the CL that does not work? I was thinking that the immobiliser was not working. Are you sure the transponder in the key actually works and its not a battery issue at all? My keys from a 2003 Alfa 147 ( the car has a lot of similarities with the Stilo) have a little light that comes on when the battery is low but I've never lost the link when switching the battery or when it stopped working. There's a guy on eBay who fixes Alfa keys, he may do the same for Fiats..?

[/quote] Key had worked erratically for a few weeks then stopped altogether, replaced the battery with a good quality one, the LED flashes again now. You only have 20 seconds to swap the battery before the key goes out of sync, so if the battery is completely flat it loses it apparently. yorks5stringer
Right it's all here. You need to buy a cable that plugs into the examiner port or get someone to do it for you...
