If you're a nut, I'm a coconut!

Here's Basschat's most nutty nut with the famous Red Classic, ex-Mark King - bought in '99:

Here's Morgan Roussell and myself in his flat in Paris with our famous JayDees!

My Classic Series I - currently with John being refinished/modded:

Not one of mine but lovely example of a Series I Classic in pearl pink - from the Netherlands:

Another from the net, this time a Series III `Mark King' model in pearl blue:

This time, a Series II in pink, you can now compare the relative differences in body size/shape! For you fellow Jaydee buffs, this is unusual in that it does not have the `funk groove' which was normally a standard feature on this series!

Compare the shape of those above to this stunning `GA 24 - George Anderson Junior Model' again in pink (sounds like a fashion show eh!?):

will post some more laters!

Ciao!

Nick

Some more pornos!

Here's the superb `Starchild' replica, built for Thom Boyle:

..and a close-up of the fretboard:

A five-string `Celeste' model - aimed at the `StingRay' players!

A left-handed `Calibas' model - I've recently picked up a 6 string version:

A very unusual Series III model `Roadie IIA' bass, owned by John Moes:

A `Roadie IIA' model - Series II shape:

A similar bass, this time, the `Roadie IA' model, again a Series II shape:

And another `Mark King' model, Series II - this time with the funk groove!

brill replies so far guys keep it up,

lets get a proper monster thread going :)...

heres a few pics:

my beautiful jaydee roadie2 active 1981 cherry red finish

my dads series 1'classic' cherry red not sure on the year but its around 1996? beautiful bass though has the proper control knobs in ebony and the yellowed binding aroun the neck/head and the rollerbass nut, i think this inspired the bendwell design(for all the status lovers out there),

mark kings original starchild bass, when it was new before it had the tremolo arm fitted, looks great , i love the series 1 shape,

would be interesting to see if anyone had anymore pics of series 4 jadyee's??

thanks

Thought I'd attach some pics of my beautiful Series I Classic #0003SA replica complete with pickups out of MKs 1st Jaydee - bass also is now fitted with cocobolo master tone/volume knobs which John kindly made for me a couple of months ago!

Enjoy!!!

Cheers
Dave
beautiful series 1 you have there dave,

did you know that the eq knobs on my dads are also wood??

marcus
Hi Marcus

Yeah they're ebony aren't they - I asked John to make me a couple of colobolo ones - I think the wooden knobs suit the vibe of the basses much more (what with the wooden pickup cases etc)

Cheers
Dave
All of these look like the same bass - just in different colours. :)

I wouldn't mind a go though.
...you heathen you! Prepare to be severely punished! Bring forth the `Early Tapes'.

Good to see Dave here! Nice knobs - I've got cocobolo ones on my Classic - all the controls including th EQ knobs. The Calibas 6 (fretted) was originally on Ebay...the fretless is hopefully being acquired by a relative of mine very soon!

The Starchild Jaydee is one of my all-time favourite basses. I'll never forget the first time I saw it on Whistle Test; my jaw just went through the floor. Of course Mark's playing was pretty impressive too; he was the first guy I'd ever seen slapping, and I'd never seen anything like Dune Tune (I think I'd been playing a year or two at the time, and things were different in those days!). Imagine , the first guy you ever see slapping is Mark King...

That aqua quilt is gorgeous as well!
