It may be corrosion inside the switch...If that is true, then the switch either needs to be cleaned or replaced...

Ian!!! Always good to see ya Mate!

Thanks Jaymi.
I think you could be right. It hasn't seen much use over the years so that could be the problem.
Cheers.
Ian. ;)

Whilst I have your attention on the Jaydee. Do any of you Jaydee owners have the problem of
when the active switch is on you hear a crackling noise similar to bacon frying.?
If so what is it and can it be cured? It seems to improve when you back off the hi eq control.

Take off the control cavity cover and spray wd40 over the circuit board and under it where the switches and rotaries are.

Ah memories....here's my Jaydee story.

About 1988, I found myself in a band with two of John Diggins' sons .............. I saw some amazing stuff - instruments belonging to Tony Iommi, Dave Hill and of course, Mark King.

Could well have been this - a custom copy of his 1970's "bitsa" Gibson.

Hi Peeps,

A bit of Jay Dee Memorabilia for ya. John gave me the original sign from the workshop in Moseley, before he moved to the next one way back in the 80s, when I had more hair and less gut ;-)

No more pictures just yet but my 1981 roadie has gone in for a bit of work :)

Plans are:
Neck pickup relocation to series 1 position
2 new pickups with plain ebony covers
Refinish in pearl white leaving centre exposed (like mark king model)
Bound fingerboard
Rollerball nut

Very excited to get her back :), it shouldn't be too much longer :)
