Gorgeous machine, I'd love one myself but couldn't justify the price-tag, either to myself or the other half. Quote

Nick (missing her already!) Quote
Soliloquy Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 To keep the thread going, here's my latest addition. It's a 1987 Series 3. It is in absolutely amazing condition....it's 24 years old ! It's also still got the Basscentre sticker on the back of the neck too. The sound is amazing. I used it on a session with a Jazz trombone player on Tuesday evening. He's a very picky player, but loved the way it sounded. It just goes to show the versatility of these instruments, they're not all 'slap and pop'. Quote

john_oprey Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I've got 2 of these fine basses (Mark King, SeriesII) - JohnD has replaced the pickups in each for his new SN2000 humbuckers with series/parallel switching option ...and even reprayed the pearl blue bass (from a yellowish pearl white color!)....excellent craftsmanship! Cherry red bass is an '84 (& weighs a ton) & the pearl blue is an '86 (quite a bit lighter) - both fitted with Sims LEDs. John's also a great bloke to deal with as well as being very patient!! The low B is perfect. I'd say it was the best bass that I've ever owned, and I've owned a lot of good basses . Quote
TheGreek Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 (edited) Here are updated photos of my Roadie (before and after) and also the ( ghastly ) pink GA24 which I traded for my Wal Mk1..any thoughts on whether I should have the GA24 resprayed??? Edited August 30, 2011 by TheGreek Quote

Too many of the pearl basses have been resprayed (and more selfishly I want to buy one eventually). I was hoping to get this one, but could not get things worked out with Nick. C'mon it's better than sunburst anyway. Quote

I am open to offers when you're ready..trades?? A friend of mine was trying the GA24 out today along with my Fender S1, a Vintage P bass copy with a very nice neck (which he picked up for £90), my new Overwater J4, and my VC fretted out - he was very impressed with the GA24 (among others).. JayBassD Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Here's mine I'm also getting a white Thunderbird at some point, it's on the backburner though at the moment while they conquer the paying customers orders, only fair . Quote
BB3000S Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Here's mine, I just love everything about this bass! Quote
Soliloquy Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 (edited) I found this photo a little earlier today. What a monster !! That's my Calibas 6 string in the background. That weighs a fair amount, I dread to think what this must weigh. I wonder where it is now ? Edited October 10, 2011 by Soliloquy Quote
doctor_of_the_bass Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Hi Kev! I actually got to play the Calibas Twin when I bought your Calibas! It sounded incredible, almost like a Moog bass tone but weighed a ton! I think it sold on Ebay! Hope all well with you - fancy swapping the Calibas for a rather superb OW??! Cheers! N x Quote
