Lovely looking bass Andy, love my stingray.
I’m seriously thinking of picking up a Caprice to go with my cutlass, I still can’t put that bass down it’s phenomenal.

I’m really into the musicman playability and tones.

Think @sshorepunk is still selling his caprice.

i would’ve jumped, but I’ve got more P/J’s than brain cells, currently.

It’s staying!

would really like to find a diamond blue and do a neck swap, that will create a sunburst with maple and blue with rosewood, neither were available from MM

i prefer solid colours to SB!

My pot is on a knife edge every time I see something I like but I’m really trying hard to save it for the Wal 😄

I do have a new crazy idea of acquiring  a fretless caprice and getting rid of the Tony Franklin sig

I’ve just mailed Musicman to see if they can provide a neck, I must say I haven’t seen one in the wild anywhere.

I've got a pair of Sterling Ray's, a Ray34 and a Ray35.

I've found that they sound quite a bit different. The 35 has a much bigger, more rounded tone while the 34 sounds a bit weak by comparison (eq flat on both).

Would this be down to the more chunky 5 string neck or would it be down to differences in the pickups?

This isn’t, but i couldn’t let @AndyTravis  have all the fun of a new bass day on his own. I’ll do a proper new bass day thread when I’ve had time to process what I did today… 😂🤣

Lovely looking bass though Andy, what does the puppy weigh then?

Expand

It’s about 10.4lbs.

Id suspect half of that is the bridge and control plate/pickups and knobs.

it doesn’t feel boat anchor esque though - feels vibrant and solid.

The necks on the classics are insanely pretty.

Wal looks well, I await the NBD thread.
