Andy where did you get the cream pickup cover? I’m after one to replace the black one on my stingray. I’ve done a search but I can only find white ones.

i had to source a used MM unit - took ages to find.

 

musicman won’t sell you one without you sending the original back - the pickups are epoxied into the covers so they’re not interchangeable apparently.

 

My Teal SR5 is a really early 90’s one and doesn’t have the same circuit as the pre dummy coil (94-2004/5) models.

 

so without lots of hellish messing - my dream for the teal one fell short.

 

Anyhow: the red one sorts that issue.

I removed the pickup in my shorty, which is also a neodymium. That’s glued down.

I’ve gone for the easy option I’ve just ordered an aged pearl guard for my Classic. The pickup cover on it is cream so it should look good.

Yes, they do seem to lend themselves to bright colours. It used to be mine once upon a time. I remember it had an incredible B string and I could get a pretty convincing J, P, Gibson EB2, double humbucker and a couple of other tones out of it, before even touching the active/passive (passive with it’s own tone control) or the 4-band EQ. Definitely a one bass to any gig proposition
