My second Stingray shaped instrument has just arrived, a Sterling Ra34. I didn't go looking for one to match my Ray35 but it looks great (I think it does) and it's in great condition

Fitted a white pickguard from Pickguard Planet, really cleans up the look of the Big Al. I also bought a black one as I wasn’t sure but the white looks better. I’d love another one, maybe one of the later ones with the lighter tuners and mahogany body. There’s even one with a solid rosewood neck and a Dargie’s delight but even getting one is next to impossible. Let me know if anyone finds a 5 SSS 😀

Looks really good but…sunburst/tort/rosewood every day of the week for me.

I did photoshop a tort pickguard on it and didn't like it. I think the burst was too light for it to work. It fades in from dark red rather than black.

I had tort on a 90s honeyburst USA Sterling which is the same light burst as on both your Rays and I loved it.

Just goes to show if we all thought the same, one mans meat, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, variety is the spice of life etc etc 

On a side note I’m GASsing for a Stingray 5/Ray 35 again lol

I have the most severe GAS right now for a Starry Night Bongo.  Thought Id found one before the buyer decided to pull the listing!

So, couldn't find a Starry Night, so went for a Charcoal Sparkle Special instead  Love the black hardware with the finish, it's a beaut!  It's been a while since I played a regular Stingray, but the specials feel really good.  Neck seems slimmer and faster than I remember? And forearm contour feels very comfortable.
