I went boring some 7 years ago and opted for un interesting standard Sunburst for my Classic. But I love it!

Very John Deacon “Another One Bites the dust”

I think that’s stunning in its simplicity; classic by name, classic by nature.

The necks on the classics are insanely pretty.

Great catch, Andy. And, yes, that neck is to die for! :)

There’s a nice natural Stingray Classic 5 on eBay at the moment but it’s rather expensive (same model in black was up at £1399 in PMT a few months ago) and something about the listing rings alarm bells. Not that I have room for another bass :(

Just went to check it out , did a search , and saw a Status Groove up for 1.5K - sort of Status Stingray , if you will . Some people's asking prices , as you say , are mental .

Yeah - I’ve seen that too. About 4 months ago. It wasn’t shifting then either; some wild claim about it being the only natural one ever made, a “one off” - but the natural was a standard colour for the groove bass…

They’re about 600 ish normally. Which for what they are, represent great value for money. I saw that Stingray, and others on EBay. Definitely some optimistic pricing

Lovely things aren’t they?!

Extremely🙂

saw yours which is lovely looking btw. Love the sledge finish but probably more for the rosewood board. I wanted rosewood on mine when I was looking but there was none about at the time. Still none about now lol

anyway no complaints, it’s such a sweet bass with some great settings on the 5 way.

If a Diego blue turns up - I won’t be saying no.

That colour is amazing. Seen a few of those on talk bass selling fast. Reminds me of the trans blueburst maple necked Sabre hanging in one of the Glasgow music shops about twenty five years ago. I still think of that as one that got away.

dr T’s Neptune blue is another blue Sabre that looks lush.

black sabres always look great too.

There was an 88/89 in blueburst at the gallery for about 3 years…should’ve jumped on it.

I keep an eye out for it…it’ll turn up - they always do.

I’ve just put a new pickguard on my stingray. But I thinking the original one still looks better to me what do you think.

Personally, I prefer the top one

That’s the original I think I’m with you but I like trying different pickguards to see what they look like.

I think that I actually still have one of those black pearl (or whatever you call it) pickguards that I put on a black stingray years ago.

I’d really like to try out a caprice, since getting the ol’ smoothie I’m becoming a musicman convert !
