Horizontalste
Recent stupid (& not serious) hand injury made playing my 35 scale 5 strings a bit of a mission so to keep the cobwebs at bay I've dug out my favourite 4 string. The pain of the hand injury just melted away as I remembered why I love my Stingray so much.

dub_junkie
Swapped out the neck on two of my Sabres. Sledge is wearing a new pickguards.com black abalone guard as well as the maple neck. The natural is now the same as the Sabre I owned for a while and then stupidly sold a long, long time ago. Probably keep them like this for a while...
MM Stingray 62
Both very nice indeed I think I preferred the natural one with the maple neck. But saying that the both look great. I must get myself a Sabre on day instead of buying another stingray.

I'm the same with the Sabres though I am looking at a StingRay Special as my next MusicMan hopefully. My sunburst Sabre is now wearing flats with the mutes doing their thing. On the P bass setting it sounds great so that bass is staying that way.

NJE
I’m not sure if I have posted mine on here. This is my 2000 Stingray, I have had this about 6 years now. I have mixed feelings about this bass, it plays so well and just feels so comfortable, but I have never been thrilled by the colour. I just can’t seem to bring myself to sell or trade it for fear of not getting another quite so good.

A black plate and pickup cover would make it all better 😉.

Never thought about black on it, off to google to find an example. I have a Pearl white which I always pair with a black pickup cover when I fancy a change.

Usually I agree with @Deedee, that's why my Stingray is his (one of) old Stingray. However, I really like the colours just as they and I don't say that about many Ray's without maple boards! It's a cool lookin' bat! 1

I must point out that I believe sticking a black plate on improves the look of most basses, although when black’s too much, a minty green one could be the answer. This was mine 😍 Edited April 4, 2023 by Deedee
MM Stingray 62
I think an aged pearl one would work really well. I had a tortoise one on my classic and changed it for the aged pearl. It completely changed the look of the bass for the better in my opinion.

NJE
I was thinking clear at one point. When I was taking the pickup cover off I thought it looked pretty good.

Stingray5
It's been a while since I posted here so thought I'd pop this pic of me 'n' my '89 Ray5 at a recent festival gig. Bought in '97, it's been my main go-to bass ever since. All original apart from the white pearl plate. Yeah, it's weightier than a modern Ray -- about 10.5 lbs -- but it's not really a problem. Ask me again when I'm the other side of 70! 👍🤠👍
