It's almost like black cherry burst but it's a sparkle finish, lovely
SkinnyMike
Picked this baby up yesterday, it's my perfect bass in every way! Im actually cured in terms of GAS...well for now. It's an early 2007 Trans Pacific blue burst ray with a maple neck. Ill get a better picture when I have access to a proper camera. My Iphone camera really doesn't do it any justice!! longtimefred
This is my 89 'Ray5, its my baby and i loves it!!! My apologies for the dirty state of it, i just taken it out of its case since coming back off my last tour with the band. Question i need to ask is does anyone know if this is an official finish or did the previous owner sand it down and varnish it? lol. budget bassist
looks like either a VERY used natural, or a VERY used amber... i'm pretty sure they did like an amber tint...
longtimefred
LOL u got the VERY used part right! Its seen a lot of the world and lots of gigs. Its certainly not in mint condition but its amazing Sure its had a refret as well as the fretboard is slightly cracked up the dusty end. Rowbee
There's a similar looking Sterling in the FS threads: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...t=0&start=0 Why it's still available at only 650 notes is beyond me. Shaggy
Carrying on with the vintage theme: my '80 Sabre. It was my one and only bass for years and years, but sadly doesn't get much of a look-in anymore

OutToPlayJazz
Well, I'm a latecomer to the club, but here's mine... It's a June 2000 piezo model with the neck refininshed in satin lacquer by a luthier. Set it up to my tastes this morning (rasied the pickup to about 3mm off the strings in the middle & added some nice 40-100 FatBeams.) Gigged it at lunchtime & it's got an utterly massive tone - Very very impressed! Apologies for re-use of Dave's pics. I'll do some more when I get a moment... Stingray5
Ah, so that's where it ended up! Congrats to Dave for the sale - and well done to OTPJ for the purchase. Finally got a decent bass in the collection then?!

Congrats to Dave for the sale - and well done to OTPJ for the purchase. Finally got a decent bass in the collection then?!
Haha Yes, it's a really nice bass. It's been a gradual evolution to getting a MusicMan bass for me. I first got the bug when I played a new 2EQ model fresh out of the box at Electro & then went through an OLP MM22 and later a SBMM Ray 34. In between every other "real" Ray I played never made the mark of the black 2eq one I played. That's why I took my time and chose carefully. Now I have a stonker & I'm happy on the EBMM front... ...Now, how about a Bongo 5...? AAARRRGGGHHH!
Duarte
Get a Bongo 5! Loverly bass, I was *very* close to buying that a while ago. Nice one! (They'll love to see it on the MM forum...)
