gary mac
Then - in '73 I went up to that London to buy a Ricky - but every one I tried was horrible to play! I ended up with a beautiful Blonde Italian My first real nice bass
That is one tasty Italian job John.
dincz
Vox Cougar bought s/h in 1970. Still got it but it's under a friend's bed on the other side of the world. Not my photo but just like this:
Monckyman
I really like that Vox Cougar. I remember borrowing a Framus off someone for about a year (as you do), until the headstock fell off. I then bought a Vox Standard via a catalogue in 1982, which took me two years to pay off. When I stopped playing, about 20 years ago, it became the bass all my friends borrowed to record etc, and I never saw it year upon year until I resumed playing about 5 years ago, and rescued it from my daughter who had started playing. I used it last night and it played and sounded excellent. Edited January 30, 2015 by Monckyman
Jazzneck
Hofner Professional in 1967 - like this one (there's a pukkah picture up in the loft but I can't be bunkered to go up and get it). In them days I was skinnier than a skinny thing, now I'm not and play a big boys PBass.

EssentialTension
This isn't my actual bass, but mine's identical. A '64 Höfner Artist II, bought from my metalwork teacher for £20 in 1982.
I started on one of those too in 1974. I paid £30 if I recall correctly. Paul S
That really is a recurrent thread around here, isn't it? Include me in ...
... and me. Late starter's club. Pervey Millstone III bought as a package in PMT Southend around 12 years ago. Followed by this old fella and then, since joining here, about a million others. Freddy Le Cragg
Aria Pro II. Lovely bass that cost me £90 from Cash Converters in Plymouth. I do kinda miss it but the lektrix were on the frizz and I couldnae be arsed to mend it when i got my Jazz.
