cachao
Just a quick heads-up. It appears that the Tanglewood collaboration is over, and these basses are no more. I have a Classic Jazz (now with Entwistle neos in place), and picked it up at £219. Fantastic slim neck. Well-built. If you are considering these, looks like you will have a last chance. http://www.kennysmusic.co.uk/guitar-bass/bass-guitars/overwater

lonestar
i wish that I had some money. i'd be interested in the 5string aspiration elite. Anybody tried one ? Shame they're no longer being made
JPJ
i wish that I had some money. i'd be interested in the 5string aspiration elite. Anybody tried one ? Shame they're no longer being made
I tried one of the early Aspiration fivers and my only complaint at the time was that the neck, particularly the join between the maple and the rosewood was a bit 'sharp' to the hand. Other than that the Aspiration compared favourably to my UK built Perception.
Machines
I had a Contemporary J 5 string and it was well put together, but lacked any real character. I didn't keep it very long, maybe 3 months. It's a shame it didn't work out as the idea itself was good. Understated looks and initial high prices may have put a few people off. Bass Culture
I've not owned a passive bass for years now and have been thinking about adding one to my very small stable. As my ACG is away having some work done on it this seems like the ideal opportunity to pull the trigger on a Classic Jazz in CAR. Thanks for the 'head's up' Cachao - much appreciated. Annoying Twit
I would guess that the large numbers of Tanglewaters sold cheaply on ebay indicated that they couldn't sell them in sufficient numbers. Either that, or the manufacturer was producing too many substandard instruments.
