tauzero
Wonderful job - shame about the F-holes though. Is there no way you can blend in a colour to closely match the sunburst?
Manton Customs
That's sweet - The new fingerboard and binding is a little dazzling against the much much older finish - but with strings and a polish it'll look a real treat. That "racing stripe" is very groovy!
Thanks, I think the stripe is a cool feature too! Yes, there is a bit of a clash between old and new at the moment, but as you say after the strings go on and the body polished it should be less of a clash, also once the board is oiled it will go a fair bit darker and blend nicely.
This is coming along nicely..! Excellent pics, and interesting explanations. It all looks so easy from this side of the screen..!
Thank you, ha yes....probably looks quick too!
Wonderful job - shame about the F-holes though. Is there no way you can blend in a colour to closely match the sunburst?
Thanks! Yes, it's a shame about the F-holes, though fortunately the bass side one isn't too noticeable (compared to the other!) and the treble will be covered by a pickguard . A repair would be possible but I don't believe it'd ever be invisible on close inspection unless the whole top was refinished and I'd rather have a bit of honest damage than an obvious repair. dadofsix
It's really a joy to see an old guitar that most people would simply junk, and seeing it being restored through the gentle touch of a master's hand. Kudos to you, sir.

Beer of the Bass
That's a very impressive finish job on the sides! The bridge looks very close to the original too. I've got to ask, how does it sound?

Manton Customs
Thanks guys . In answer to how it sounds...really nice and (perhaps) surprisingly loud! It also plays great with an action height of around 1.5 mm.

planer
I like the way you have just repaired & restored as necessary rather than 're-manufactured to look new'- it still looks like a very old guitar, and the better for it. And it has its voice back! Superb craftsmanship.
Manton Customs
Thanks very much gents! Yep, it was the plan to wind back the clock to before it got broken rather than to when it was new .
