lefrash Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 I'm looking for something simply to get an amplified sound out of when at home. I currently use my PC, but thats becomin a faff and to be honest, so I'd love just a wee amp that I can plug and play. I'm not convinced I necessarily want a bass specific one either, so open to guitar amps too. Looking to spend £50 - £60, there seems to be about a million of them (guitar and bass) out there, Alot for even less. I'm suspecting that at this price, theres not gonna be a big difference. Anyone currently use a cheapo one that you'd recommend? cheers Quote
uncle psychosis Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 The Vox Pathfinder amps are meant to be really good. The guitar version gets some fairly spectacular reviews for an amp that costs £50 brand new! I assume the bass version is similarly decent. Quote
lefrash Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 That's the exact one I've got my eye oN, the guitary one. Might keep an eye out for a 2nd hand one for a week or two, but for that kinds price, you can't fo wrong. Plus it looks nice! Quote
uncle psychosis Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 (edited) Other cheapy amps that get good reviews are the Roland Cube series. There's also the Yamaha THR which looks right up your street but its a lot more pennies. I quite fancy a Pathfinder myself, lets hope we don't bid against each other They were £35 on Amazon at Christmas, gutted I missed out on one. Edited February 3, 2015 by uncle psychosis Quote
Deedee Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 (edited) I've had a Marshall Bass 12 for more years than I care to remember and it does the job really well. You can pick them up for £20-£25 Edited February 3, 2015 by Deedee Quote
operative451 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I recently got a Warwick Blue cab 15.1 to use as a travel amp, for 40 quid from my local second hand music gadgets shop (Wants in Plymouth, go to the small one not the big one!) and its fab! Easily portable, loud and light... Good noise too! Quote
machinehead Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I suppose you'll get lots of suggestions and mine is......a Fender Rumble 15. Very cheap used and decent sounding at home practice volumes. Light and compact too. Frank. Quote

Riccardo Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) Hello everyone, it's my first post on this forum. Look on Warwick BC10 - small, lightweight, low noise, headphones amp. Edited February 10, 2015 by Riccardo Quote
darren Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I've got one of these. http://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/SubZero-V15B-Vintage-15W-Bass-Combo-Amp/B7P. I quite like practicing plugged in and this combo ticks that box. Sound quality is what you'd expect for £40 but I like it. Quote
Dan Dare Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 If you can stretch to a little over the ton, the baby EBS is nice. Quote
phil.c60 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Roland BassCube 30 for me - I picked one up for £60 on fleabay and it was nearly new. Had it about 4 years, it sits in my study/practice room so I can just plug'n'play. Sensible volume, some effects and amp modelling which I never use! Quote
Jonnyboy Rotten Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Worth considering the Ashdown Tourbus range - I used to have the tourbus 10 which did the job for what you need. Quote
