AndyTravis Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 (edited) Just put some of these in my Nate Mendel Precision... Wow. I was apprehensive and reluctant when I first saw the price, I'm so glad I've done it. Lollipop tuners from Madison's on eBay and maybe say goodbye to the BAII bridge and this is the Muhammad Ali of Precision basses. It was 7.8lbs when I bought it, and removing the duncan 1/4lb pickups has made it silly light, the badass is redundant in its role as I use flats on it. Magic stuff, if you're debating buying a set of these pickups, I'd highly recommend them. Edited June 25, 2015 by AndyTravis Quote
BruceBass3901 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I'm hoping to pick one of these up at the London Bass Guitar Show next month for a project I am working on. Great to see such a positive review. Quote
molan Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I've had these on one of my basses and really like them as well. Designed by Dave Boonshoft at Aguilar to be as close as possible to the ones in his original '64 P. Quote

Been debating getting one for a while and never seen too many reviews on them? Quote
AndyTravis Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 Trying to get some time to do a recording, it's a lot more open sounding than the duncan it's replaced. Not the fairest of comparisons as they're made for different jobs I suppose. Quote
M@23 Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Good stuff. Sounds great. I've only played one NM P bass, but it was really nice. Quote

Some sites selling them display without a logo. I want to get some but shamelessly I want people to know I'm using them! Quote
AndyTravis Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 Haha, no, I really, really need to get on that. What if I do a crappy iPhone video in the next few days? The bass is now full vintage, no badass bridge, and thomastik flatwounds... Quote
Funky Dunky Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Yeah, that would be fine, anything at all that lets us hear them! Quote
AndyTravis Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 I'm out for tea with the wife, on my 3rd pint. See how I am. Might do it tomorrow when the house is empty... Quote
AndyTravis Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 http://youtu.be/co7DQ-8qdfY Just did this as I got in from work. There's a bit too much string noise, and the hard plastered walls etc means it sounds a bit clunky. Hope it's of use - should've recorded direct 😑 Quote
Funky Dunky Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Thanks for this Andy, yeah they sound nice and vintage. I like how they sound slapped. Gorgeous bass, btw, most droolworthy Quote
AndyTravis Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 Yeah, it's bloody lovely... Must play 4's more often, felt like I was missing a string videoing this... Quote
