Four string BEAD blues

Sounds like you had fun! See I tried to shun the 5 string but in the end it just made sense and my beloved pre EB Rays went in the end too, I know where the nicest one is at the moment and if it ever comes up for sale I might be tempted to grab it back but in reality my days on four strings are done, unless its a DB, Lol.

Aha! Please allow me to piggy-back on this thread, as I'm in a very similar situation. Still not sure how I feel about 5s, but I'm going to record some songs which are going to be transposed down and I want to preserve my lovely original basslines :-)

I have a spare P which I was thinking of trading for a 5 (The Squier VM P5 thread isn't helping!) but it occurred to me that setting up as BEAD might be the better solution for me. My main concern is the "nut work"... I'm OK with a screwdriver or an Allen key, but balk at anything destructive. And would I need a new nut if wanted to go back to EADG? Ta.

ras52 are you local to Orpington? You are welcome to try my BEAD P out if we can get the stars to align.

And so are you! I am local, I'm in Bromley, although star-alignment may be deferred as my wheels have just had a bad day and need to see the doctor :-( I'll PM you later, thanks!

I've decided to go back to EADG so have this set of strings going for free if you want to try them ras52

Thanks for the offer Ant... as it happens, since this thread started, I've "gone five", so there may be no turning back!
