mattbass6
I'm a self confessed gear whore and I have been through most makes of basses (sad but true). Anyway, I decided to shift from playing 6 string bass to 5 string about 3 years ago so, I bought a Mike Lull PJ5, as you do. It was very nice indeed but as soon as I had it in my hands, I fell in love with a Vigier Excess 5 and how ever hard I tried to deny it, that lust would not go away. I sold the Lull (not a 35" scale length fan) and bought 2 US Precision 5 string basses. I felt like going back to my roots with the P basses (I still own my '86 Jap P bass) but obviously with an extra string. They were / are amazing but just didn't have that extra something special I was looking for. Finally, I had to face up to the fact that the lusting for the Vigier was not going to go away. 6 months ago, I left my Fender basses and ran away with the bass you see below. It is GORGEOUS! The most playable bass I have ever owned and the most stable too. The sound is incredible live and recorded. It makes you want to play. It makes me feel like I have always played it. Other basses might come and go but I know this Excess 5 will be with me until the end. This is my story, what's yours?
