waynepunkdude Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I'm late to the party on this but can someone tell me how the Hofner control panel was ever signed off on? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOvKhc9hlfY Quote
Cameronj279 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 "When they're both off, both of the pickups are on" What a stupid idea. Quote
wateroftyne Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Ha ha... what a load of nonsense. Hands up if Budge Magraw's accent sounded nowt like you expected. *raises hand* Quote
andytoad Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 wtf??!! that was funny! makes no sense, it defies logic, it would drive me potty if i had one. Quote
yorks5stringer Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 "Late to the Party"? Being a Hofner, I'm guessing it won't be UKIP...? Quote
paul_5 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Nothing wrong with the control panel per se, it's just mounted upside down. On every Höfner bass ever made… Quote
Phil Adams Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 On is Off. Obvious when you think about it. Quote
MiltyG565 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015
I'm late to the party on this but can someone tell me how the Hofner control panel was ever signed off on?
Hmm, that is a bit convoluted. I suspect the problem is that they didn't have people like you working at Hofner back in the 50s. Quote
theyellowcar Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 On is off and off is on...of course. Quote
waynepunkdude Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 The neck pick up control is in the bridge position and the bridge control is in neck position. Genius. Quote

blue Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 So what is Hofner saying, "Off Is The New On?" Blue Quote
Douglas, are you suggesting that the average BMW or Audi driver is confused by the controls of their traffical indicators to a degree at which they just don't bother to use them? Or are you suggesting that they drive along with their indicators off because off is on, and when they turn them on, to turn, they're actually off? Either way - burn 'em! Quote
Grangur Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 ThE "on is off" isn't totally daft is you think from the player's perspective you are pulling the switches towards you, which is what you do to switch things "on". The pots being reversed I don't get at all. Quote
Lord Sausage Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 It makes total sense! What's the problem Quote

The pots and the writing are the correct way around Quote

Billy Apple Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Do you think for the rhythm/solo bit all he was doing was playing it harder and softer while the switch does nowt? Quote
Like when people demonstrate an S1 switch in a Fender Tele, but they have it switched to 1 coil, but they can assure you there's a difference in the tone! Quote
