arthurhenry
"Feel the way I do" from Pink Floyd's Vera and "Feels the way I do" from Oasis' Wonderwall. Same melody and, but for one letter, lyrics.
Graham
Isn't Danni California by the Chili's almost a straight lift from something else, down to the drums and lyrical themes?

Nicko
I once wrote and recorded a song on a 4 track in the 90s, and Pulp released somethig that sounded exactly the same a few months later. I never knew how Jarvis got hold of my tape. Do You Remember The First Time also sounds pretty much like New Generation by Suede, although Pulp released their's first. Woodinblack
The one that usually gets a mention (quite reasonably IMHO) is this: .. Dani California.. .. last dance with mary jane
I don't get that at all - both of those songs are in our setlist, I have never noticed a similarity, still don't. I enjoy playing Dani California, not keen on mary jane. Edited February 15, 2015 by Woodinblack
I had a similar experience. I had my guitarist round for a musical session. I played him a track I was working on - just drums, rough guitar and bass tracks down, and only about 40 seconds - and he really liked it as he was a fan of Racer X, whose song "Scarified" I had rewritten. How Paul Gilbert had heard it, gone into a time machine to the late 80s, recorded it with a band and released it, I'll never know. http://youtu.be/nPGA3vjMLgE

Without needing to make even the slightest allowance for the fact that Dani is supposedly a completely different song, written by somebody else, years afterwards? Of course you can. That's because ... erm ... they're the same song. If that seems a bit glib, try doing the same thing with any two other songs chosen at random ...
So it has the same chord progression? So pretty well every blues song with every other blues song, or every punk song with every other punk song? There are other songs in the sets that are far more similar than that, its not like ghostbusters vs I want a new drug sort of similarity is it? KevB
Opening riff of Weller's 'Changing man' sounds uncannily like ELO's '10538 overture' from many years previous.
Deep Thought
'You let her go' by Passenger sounds exactly like '74,75' by the Connells to me.
