Oldman Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I am contemplating changing the string set up on my Thumb from EADG to BEAD. Is this just a matter of changing the little screws on the Nut, moving them along and popping in the 'B' where the 'E' was? Or is it more complicated and will the tension be a tad too much for the four string neck? It is an '88 NT and I don't want to wreck it as I've had it from new. Anyone help me on this please Thanks Quote
geoffbyrne Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Shouldn't be a prob - tension's actually less on BEAD. G. Quote

tauzero Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Did you try the obvious place? Oldman Posted March 20, 2015 Author Posted March 20, 2015 Ha, thanks, no, I ran out of patience. Just as well we are looked after here on the forum.... Quote
Dazed Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Be wary of the b string fitting ok in the bridge. I'm sure I've read there can be issues and sometimes tapered strings needed to be used. Quote
Oldman Posted March 20, 2015 Author Posted March 20, 2015 I priced the carriage, €10 for delivery.... Still I've got to try it. Thanks for your assistance guys. Quote
