Well I sold my 1976 P basses recently and being a tad flush I decided to be a bit extravagant by ordering a Celluloid scratch plate from the US for this! if I get stung for VAT and duty it will be the most expensive part of the bass

I'm also keen to get a SD Antiquity pickup but that might have to wait.

If it will make you feel better, I could sell you some genuine screws for the scratchplate. £350 (p&p not included).
 is that price per screw?

As promised here's some pictures of the bass, as mentioned above I'm loving the look and sound of the bass but can't decide if I can live with the wide P bass neck so I'll live with it for a while and see how I get on.

I have scratchplate GAS. This is ridiculous.
... and I thought it was just me, I spend the best part of a week gong back to look at it before realising the GAS wouldn't stop until I bought one.

I too have scratchplate GAS and I too think that it is a ridiculous thing to have. I'm looking at my P and Strat and thinking silly thoughts. Enough internet for me for a while.

Well the pickguard got all the way to the local sorting office then they lost it! after a lot of hassle and a couple of long phone call they finally found it! picked it up this morning, it's very nice indeed, was it worth the hassle and the cost, probably not

Managed to score a reasonably priced second hand Seymour Duncan Antiquity 2 this morning, another US purchase so lets hope the Royal Mail don't misplace them, tax free would be nice too.

I also got offered a 62RI Jazz neck by a forum member that would have been nice on this bass but unfortunately they've gone very quiet on the subject.

That's all for now as I won't be fitting the guard until the pickup arrives.

Just out of idle curiosity, where did you source the pickguard, Dave? :)

Hi Mark, it came from this guy on Ebay, it's not as obviously celluloid as the Spitfire one you had on your Limelight.

They're not bad at all! Spitfire are more or less indistinguishable from the real thing, but cost a lot more... :)

Hi Rumple. That's a REALLY nice pick guard. With tortoiseshell, it has to be good to look right...this looks perfect!

Thanks Andy :)

I would have made the same choice had I heard those comparisons before buying the SD Antiquity :)

...this P and my RW Jazz are getting a lot of love at the moment so neither will be up for sale in the near future.
That's something of a relief to be honest. :) Really liking the P though, worthy of a Limelight job.
