Perry Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Is there really any difference between the two? I'm tempted with a 4x10 markbass cab. Quote
Bill Fitzmaurice Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Front port goes lower, because it's larger. The rear port has them on the back because there's no room for them on the front. Quote
chris_b Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I prefer the ports on the front. Then I don't have to worry about leaving a space at the back of the cab for the port to work properly. Quote
Raggy Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015
I prefer the ports on the front. Then I don't have to worry about leaving a space at the back of the cab for the port to work properly.
My preference is the same, some venues we play can be very tight for space and my cab has to sit right up against the wall. Quote
JTUK Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 I prefer rear ports myself...not a fan of shelved ports so tuck them away at the back is fine by me if it keeps the dims down. Quote
ebenezer Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Tried both the rear ported, and front ported markbass cabs, and to my ears, the front ported cabs sound better. For me, this goes for most other makes as well. Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I'm just not that bothered these days, decent amp, cab (s) and a reasonable five string bass and I'm ready to gig Quote
