Weststarx Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Mr Big. I love Billy Sheehans work, just dont really like Mr Big! Quote
Bottle Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015
Is that the one that played out of tune at one concert?
Yes, but she's forgiven cos it can (and does) happen to all of us at some point Quote
AndyTravis Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Bruno Mars. His bassist is other worldly whereas he's a bit of a rehash merchant. Quote
Cherchez la Femme Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Kajagoogoo the first that sprung to mind Quote
Lord Sausage Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015
Dream Theatre. John Myung's an amazing player, but just can't listen to them as a band.
There first two albums were good, but bizarrely I find Myung a bit boring, horrible sound. Great technique but not much excitement. I've seen them live about 4 times. Shared a spliff with one of the members, good lads! When Sherinian was in the band he tried pulling my mates missus. Funny! KevB Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Muse. I don't particularly dislike them but I think they are a bit overrated as a band. Quote

KevB Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 I didn't say they weren't techincally accomplished, just don't think the material is all that great as a band. Same for Dream Theater. Quote
ubit Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Sorry, I thought you meant their playing was overrated. I suppose it's taste again, innit? Quote
Drax Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015
Metallica
Of course! Hiding in plain sight Quote
It won't make any difference mate Muse are another of those fabulous home grown bands that evolved and succeeded only to be slated by those who won't like successful bands and have to knock them back down. We are not allowed to succeed in the UK, it is unseemly. Quote
Skol303 Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Jules Holland's Rhythm & Blues Orchestra. Far from being a "bad" band (all great musicians I'm sure); just not my cup of tea. But I do rate Dave Swift on bass. Quote
xilddx Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Back on topic. Why would anyone want to listen to music they don't like? Can't understand it. Even if you like what the bassist is doing, if the context is not enjoyable then what's the point? Quote
Roger2611 Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 For me it's Nirvana, never got them, Mrs2611 likes Muse, Linkin Park and [s]Soggy[/s] Limp Biscuit again they just don't do it for me Quote
You have to listen to them first before you decide that you don't like them. Maybe their songs pop up on the radio. I had to tolerate half an hour of Roxette at work yesterday (we take it in turns to choose the music( Quote

Krysbass Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Duran Duran - I'd never have gone to see them because of the demography of most of their fanbase (it would have been pointless to go to any of their shows back in the day if you wanted to actually hear their music/playing). But I really rate John Taylor as a bassist. Quote

Your comment in context makes no sense to me at all I'm afraid. Quote
geoham Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 (edited) D'Angelo & Paul Young both had a decent bassist... Don't much like either of their music. Edited February 20, 2015 by geoham Quote
