TPTroll Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 In all fairness, £1000 is pretty good value when you think of the scrap metal value of all those strings. Quote
tauzero Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 I pushed the boat out a bit with a slightly higher 2-digit offer, and got counter-offered £850. Somehow, I've resisted the temptation. Quote
ras52 Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015
I pushed the boat out a bit with a slightly higher 2-digit offer, and got counter-offered £850. Somehow, I've resisted the temptation.
I'd say two digits was an appropriate response! Quote
ras52 Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015
Clean tidy routing! Those pickups will be a bear to adjust, as he's crowned the height adjuster screw heads. Pilot holes? Wazzat?
Why buy a new one for £110 when you can have a butchered one for £140? *Shakes head in disbelief* Quote
Annoying Twit Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 It does have Seymour Duncan pickups, which would justifiably boost the price if they were installed properly. Surely they would be worth more than the rest of the instrument put together. Quote
anzoid Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 (edited) It's back and he's taking bids: http://www.ebay.co.u...JwAAOxycgVTixwQ It's currently at £10.50 - I stuck in a bid because it would be worth it just to [a] strip the parts and sell them and [b] destroy the rest and post the photos here Edited October 16, 2015 by anzoid Quote
colgraff Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 It would be worth buying and making a new Bass Relay Thread. Maybe some sort of prize for people who can play a recognisable tune with it. Quote
TheGreek Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I bid £22.50 - and was outbid... I was hoping to take it Bass Bashes - just realised that at some stage I'd have to change the strings. Quote
Annoying Twit Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Yay, at the time of posting I am the highest bidder. Quote
colgraff Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 (edited)
Bass Relay with it would be hilarious. Every custodian has to perform a pointless modification to the instrument.
Now that is a great idea!!! Edited October 16, 2015 by colgraff Quote
colgraff Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I've just noticed that it does have strap locks. Instead it has heavy duty wall eyelets things. Quote
anzoid Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Up to £31 - must be an all time high... to be honest, I'm a bit put off by the routing around the pickups, kind of lets down the whole thing really Quote
TheGreek Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 I've only just noticed - no pots/controls..... Quote
Annoying Twit Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 (edited) Who outbid me? EDIT: I bid a few more times, but auto-outbid each time. I'm not bidding £50 on that thing, I'm out. Edited October 17, 2015 by Annoying Twit Quote

Annoying Twit Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015
Message him and say you could get a Deco for £50............!
There's no comparison. His bass isn't even decorative. Quote
colgraff Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 I bet that he is bidding against himself. Quote
Twigman Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 It's over a ton now....in more ways than one. Quote
Annoying Twit Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015
I bet that he is bidding against himself.
I thought that. He's so convinced that it's worth a lot of money that I can see him letting it go for the £200 that I wildly, very wildly, guesstimate that it would actually go for if the auction ran properly. My thoughts were that he's probably put in a high (e.g. £800) shill bid as a hidden reserve. The other alternative is that there may be auction wreckers who think it's funny to use a throwaway account to bid the price way up then not pay. Quote
tauzero Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 I went a bit higher than you, AT. Definitely not three figures though. And not only is it up to three figures (before the decimal point), the first digit is 3. Quote
colgraff Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 £311 is easily £250 more than it is worth. Quote
Beer of the Bass Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 I suspect this will not be the last time this is listed. He'll find some spurious reason not to go through with the sale and then relist it, I reckon. Quote
roman_sub Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 To be fair, he is probably quite attached to it, by now. Quote
