Good evening, all...
Here is my own, personal, view of the compositions presented in the monthly BC Composition Challenge, in randomly chosen order. I hope that at least some of you may be inspired to give the pieces a listen, and perhaps vote for your favourite. All of them can be heard here...

A narrator's voice sets the tone here, of mystery and suspense. A chiming accompagniment and an arpeggio establish the tonality; a cross-stick tap from the snare gives us the tempo. A climbing siren prepares us for the launching of the drum'n'bass, which kicks in with authority. A slow, plodding, hypnotic beat, carrying singular 'noises off' and industrial effects eerily forward with a weary step after step after step. The beat ceases, abandonning the remaining quivering strings and a violin melody. These fade away with an unsettling 'shriek'.
The scene being set by the introductory voice, we're in the 'ghost stories' region here. Much echoing and odd, surprising, 'voices' whisper at us during the voyage. We're not going too far, as the piece is short (less than 2 minutes...), but the point is eloquently made, and it's quite capable of raising goose-bumps if listened to in a darkened room; the final shriek sees to that. You have been warned. The initial question remains unanswered. Spooky...

The next will feature ‘Clangour’, from alittlebitrobot...

Until then...

Have a nice day
