JJW Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I was just wondering what your favourite bass was that wasnt the ordinary P-Bass shape or something similar, for example my favourites are: 1. The Gene simmons axe bass made by Steve Carr http://www.guitarsofthestars.com/gothic-axe 2.The Devastator bass used by Jerry Only http://www.edroman.com/guitars/images/Devastator2010.jpg Quote
Number6 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015

I'm sure Phil Lesh plays something like this nowadays. Quote

neepheid Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 The Gibson RD Artist, if that's weird enough to qualify. Quote

tauzero Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 although I'd go for the parallel neck option Quote
Graham Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I quite like Steve DiGiorgio's custom Thor bass.. [Img]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/Ghost_Upon_The_Stage/Mobile%20Uploads/proxy_zpshujk5mkg.jpeg" class="ipsImage" /> Quote
Passinwind Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Stambaugh fretless: I've played it, sounds great. Quote

White Cloud Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Not sure if these would be classified as "weird" enough but for me its Entwistles Alembic exploiter and BC Rich's Mockingbird design. Quote
James Nada Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I've always thought of Hofner 500/1 Violin basses as weird. (As I typed that I could feeling myself developing GAS for one!) Quote
madshadows Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Overend Watts and his Swallow Bass !! http://www.pinterest.com/pin/196188127487288240/ John Quote
KingBollock Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Probably not considered that weird anymore. Took me twenty years to finally get mine and I love it. Quote
Bassassin Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I own a couple of basses which might be considered "challenging" to Fender-normalised attitudes: Lace Helix [sharedmedia=core:attachments:46079] Ibanez EDA900 [sharedmedia=core:attachments:72012] Kawai Sleekline [sharedmedia=core:attachments:46249] Tokai Talbo Nothing incredibly weird, admittedly - maybe more "eccentric"... I asked to have a go and the staff politely declined, purely for the reason they didn't think the bantamweight adolescent such as I was would be able to pick it up! Quote

Ziphoblat Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Does the EBMM Big Al count? It's probably the weirdest looking bass that I like. Quote
ead Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I rather like the GUS basses Quote
