Good evening, all...
Here is my own, personal, view of the compositions presented in the monthly BC Composition Challenge, in randomly chosen order. I hope that at least some of you may be inspired to give the pieces a listen, and perhaps vote for your favourite. All of them can be heard here...

... and the 'Play of the Day' here ...

‘Loaded’, from lurksalot...

A slow, thudding series of beats, a hesitation; they start to accelerate in a release of vapour and a guitar riff confirms the start of our adventure. The bass and drums cement the riff, and our heavily loaded train is off to a good start. The heavy, plodding pace is necessarilly indicative of the hard work being put in as a mournful train whistle resounds. We come to a bridge (musically speaking, of course..!), which features a laconic vocal impression of a steam locomotive, echoed by its whistle. The riff is re-established, puncuated by agressive, corrosive guitar chords, which take us to the fade out. The whistle bids us farewell.
The picture is certainly well reflected in this piece; all the elements are there, the steam, the effort, the clanking and creaking... A slow, pained advance is portrayed, in keeping with the image. A stern ambiance, rather Spartan; there's not a lot of joy being laid down, just honest, arduous enterprise. A convincing result, the performance pays off. We shall not eschew the obvious pun; the work leaves us with much to chew over. There, that's that one done. Phew...

The next will feature ‘Ivor, Revisited’, from xgsjx...

Until then...

Nice work.

Not to do with lurksalot, but I think someone should go listen to "Seeing It as You Really Are", off the first Hawkwind album. I'm sure that's about a train journey :)

Good call, I see what you mean. Brings back memories, too..

(Now which pills were they..? First the pink 'tabs' then the microdots, or the other way around..? Darn..! Now I've spilt 'em; I'll never find them in all this clutter. Here, you take the spliff...)
