ratter Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Hi all, I'd guess similar topics have been done to death in the past but please bear with me. Im new to bass after messing around (poorly) on guitar for years, I picked up a bargain Yamaha BB424x after xmas (£200 ex-demo!), ive been playing up through a bloody awful behringer thunderbird practice amp. Time for a decent amp. After a lot of looking around, driving myself mad with research ive found an online seller selling the Eden E300 new for £175, Ive convinced myself this is the way to go. As far as cabs go ive been looking at the Ampeg 210AV cab due to the small footprint, my logic being 1x210 is plenty for living room use, if it ever went further than that i could hook up a second 210 & use the full 300 watts of the Eden. So I suppose the question is any opinions on the marriage of the Eden E300 with one (possibly 2 in time if required) 210AV cab? Any suggestions on any other heads/cabs for beginers? Bit of relevant info: Music style: eclectic but at the moment the pixies, the band, rolling stones, CCR, sometimes a bit of punky stuff (Ramones etc) Criteria: Fits in living room! Headphone out, MP3 in Budget: I guess up to a max of £400-£500 for amp &cab, ive looked at barefaced cabs & as much as I love them, they are out of budget. Any opinions/guidance? Ta, Mat Quote
Lozz196 Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 The SVT 210AV is a nice little cab, certainly plenty enough for home use, and two of them would be a nice little gigging rig providing you don`t want earth-shattering lows. I had one for a while and it had a really lovely tone to it. But you mentioned Barefaced, you can get a 2nd hand Compact on here for around £350 and that would be almost within budget. And it would be giggable on its own as well. Quote
Guest Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 I love Eden heads but didn't take to the E300 at all. It didn't have the signature Eden tone and it ran out of steam pretty quickly, It felt very flimsy as well. I'd say look in the used section on here and you'll get a better head for the same money.
