Roland Rock
I'm thinking of getting one of those £95 GoPro cameras with a view to recording the band at rehearsals and gigs, and also creating timelapse videos at my work. Has anyone recorded their band with these? Is the microphone good enough to reproduce decent bass?
discreet
Don't know if you think the sound quality is up to it... but maybe this will be of use. Depends what you want to use the vid for really... it's not exactly 'audiophile' quality. urbanx
The audio on this is a GoPro on the monitor at the front of the stage http://youtu.be/4vsdBWAFXkU
Roland Rock
Thanks for those. Will have a listen through some proper speakers in a bit :-)
Highfox
Here's one more for you, a short clip from last Saturday, the GoPro was just picking a mix of the on stage sound and what I had going through my monitor. My personal experience is that they are ok for audio, but the Zoom's get you much better sound quality. I have the Zoom Q2 HD (you get video with it as wel)l, not as versatile as the GoPro video wise , it's a bit of a trade off. I think the Hero 4 is out now and have no idea if the sound quality is any better with that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhpQMq9yccc&feature=youtu.be

chaypup
The cheapest one? Not great, there's a marked improvement on the 3+ and the Hero 4. I bought a cheap microphone (£15) to plug in and that made a difference. Cool Cat in Town: http://youtu.be/uT65mshElhM

chaypup
Recorded on the Hero 3+ and microphone. The new standard hero may have the same sound processing as a 3+, I don't know.
