xilddx
Can't seem to find them in the UK, and I'm a bit green with this lark. Also, what active two or three band pre would work well with it? It will be going in as a single pickup in a sweet spot of my choice in a Stingray 5 Thanks for any help x
RustInPeace90
I can't help you with where to get the pick up from apart from on eBay or here if they pop up but i've heard the Aguilar OBP-2 (and 3) pre amps with those pick ups and they sound amazing so that would get my vote then you just need to choose whether to go for 2 or 3 band. Pete1967
One of my builds has an MM5TW in it with an EMG BQC Control EQ (you use the master vol that comes with the PU) and it sounds epic with nickel D'Addarios on it. By far my fav recording bass. Would highly recommend.
neepheid
I use an EMG-BQC control with two EMG-HB pickups and I think it sounds great. EDIT - I don't use a BQC system because it's a Les Paul bass and I don't want a blend control. I have a volume for each pickup (25k pot which comes with the pickup) and a traditional selector switch instead - the summation of all that then feeds into the BQC. I care not for blend controls - I end up using them as switches anyway. I'm sure it makes a difference if you use 66% neck pickup and 34% bridge, I'm just saying that I don't care Obviously, an EMG system as opposed to a control is a waste of money and components on a single pickup bass! Mcgiver69
Yeah EMG BQC is the way to go, EMG Pickups with any other preamp tend to sound too sterile. Edited February 25, 2015 by Mcgiver69

Pete1967
Yes, it's just a single pickup in the 'sweet spot'. It's was all easy to fit. You need to read the destructions carefully and dry run it out of the instrument, but no soldering or faffing around....
