spectoremg
This is a first, been taking an interest in The Who forever and this is the first pic I've seen of him gigging a twin-neck. Is that GUILD on the headstocks? Edited October 4, 2015 by spectoremg
bertbass
It's a Gibson SG eds-1275 double-neck. Much info here, http://www.thewho.net/whotabs/gear/guitar/gibsoneds1275.html. Everything (almost) about The Who, www.thewho.net
skankdelvar
Here's a better image of a 1275 being played by some bloke whose name eludes me Edited March 1, 2015 by skankdelvar

spectoremg
Hmmmm, still not convinced it's a Gibson. Edited October 4, 2015 by spectoremg
wateroftyne
According to Google, the one bolted to the wall in the previous post, which may or may not be the one in the OP, is an Alex Axe custom build.
Cosmo Valdemar
Hmmmm, still not convinced it's a Gibson.
That's a different guitar. There is a close-up shot of PT with the guitar that clearly shows it to be a Gibson, complete with truss rod cover. Can't find it though! skankdelvar
http://www.thewho.net/whotabs/gear/guitar/gibsoneds1275.html Full history of Townshend's double neck dalliance in link above, including the same image as in the very first post in the thread. More interesting, perhaps, is the band's flirtation with dandyish psychedelic clothes. The brocade jacket and frilly ruff thing didn't last long. Apparently Jeremy Clarkson owns one of Keith Moon's more famous kits.
visog
Isn't 'GuitarChat' down there in the lower forums somewhere? *looks down nose*
BigRedX
How can we tell anything from the tiny photos that keep being posted?
KevB
Bigger photos in the link Skank posted. Not really much of a Who officianado but that Gibson twin neck does look like it's been repaired and the necks aren't parallel anymore in later photos, unless it's a trick of the camera angle. skankdelvar
The whole sorry saga of Mr Townshend's engagement with the 1275 is recounted in the linked page above. Seems the poor old thing underwent an 'enforced transformation' requiring a repair which left it with necks out of parallel. Of course, it may be possible that Mr T was striving to effect an homage to the custom twin neck constructed by Mr Paul Bigsby for Mr Grady Martin (who played on - among many other hits - Miss Brenda Lee's 'Rocking Around The Christmas Tree'). But i doubt it. Bigsby: It's meant to look like that
spectoremg
Skankdelver - a brilliant article with the bonus of theories! Great pics too. Can you imagine it these days; 'Erm has anyone seen my amp rack?' Roadie: 'We traded it for a chair!' Can you throw any light on Kennedy's assassination?
