ras52
I was watching this MIJ Ibby fiver yesterday, it was at £104 until the final flurry, ended at £162. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ibanez-Bass-Guitar-5-String-dark-wood-finish-/111604965170?nma=true&si=fcfkaZCQIptTNPomx4zH%252FdO9oTQ%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Can anyone identify it? All I can tell is that it's not a current model, from the side-mounted jack jacket. Despite the slightly messed-up body, I was thinking it could be a bargain slice of MIJ goodness, but didn't fancy a shot in the dark.... thoughts? Edit: include a link to the auction, d'oh! Bassassin
Looks like the SR705 in this '03 catalogue: http://s93105080.onl...og/2003m/41.jpg My gut feeling is that it's probably MIK, but wherever it was made, that's a big fat slice of bass for £160-odd. For whoever got it... £50 postage? Jon.

yorks5stringer
Good to know that "scratches only add to the wood finish". Now where's me belt sander?
Bassassin
Good to know that "scratches only add to the wood finish". Now where's me belt sander?
Looks like actual (if heavy-handed) playwear on this one rather than a mad relic'er with a chisel! I think it's the same finish as on the current SR500, which appears to be a bit fragile to say the least. Like my old mum would've said, rub half a brazil nut on it. J. karlfer
EDIT, bollocks my quote thingy's gone AWOL. Anyway Jon (bassassin)........ Two reasons that postage quotes have gone up massively on FEEBay. 1. Attempt to get collection only and minimize/negate fees. 2. Since September, FEEBay charge you 10% of the postage, then PAINPal have their 3.4% of the postage if you choose that method of payment. Hence, the more astute sellers have increased their postage costs to cover the new charges they incur. SO, FEEBay gets even more expensive!! Then daft buggers do a FEEBay search, see how much a similar bass to theirs is and put it out at that price. I could go on for ever................ Bassassin
Makes sense - I jumped the FeePay ship about 5 years ago (when the recession finally hit the JapCrap market!) and haven't sold anything at all there for a long time. Even then it appeared they were actively trying to force private sellers off the site, and my last few auctions were pretty excruciating experiences. J.
