aceuggy Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 (edited) I want to try a fuzz, it's just to play around with and see what kind of effects I can get from it so I don't want to spend too much. I thought about an Ashdown Drive Plus, but read a few comments here and it doesn't seem to get good reviews amongst Bass Chatters, that's the kind of money I would want to spend. Any thoughts or recommendations on this would be greatfully received. Edited August 16, 2008 by aceuggy Quote

dangerboy Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 (edited) When you say fuzz, what kind of sound are you after? If you want versatility to experiment with, maybe a Zoom Ultra Fuzz would be best. Fuzz is so personal, it's hard to take a recommendation. I don't like Big Muffs, for example. Others love them. To blow your mind go to www.deviever.com/fx .More flavours of fuzz than going into a Baskin Robbins full of off-duty police and snogging the lot of them. Edited August 16, 2008 by dangerboy Quote

nick Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Hi, I posted a similar question to Justin Meldal-Johnsen on Talkbass & got some good recommendations http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=459734 Also, this guy's site is pretty good http://bassfuzz.com/ Good luck in your search, though as already mentioned fuzz taste is quite personal Cheers Quote

steve-soar Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Inspired by what I heared on the deviever.com site, I've just had a session on my GT6B. Dialing in, compression-dbx 160, Muff and phaser, I managed to get a sound that ripps through with loads of fundamental and face melting grit. If anyone can find a GT6B for a good price, buy it, they are amazing. I've had mine for a few years now and it is always delivering the goods. The settings I had each effect will be wildly different for each bass and playing style. Quote

It doesn't look complicated to use it's small and dedicated to bass, plus it's within my budget. Ordered one and hope to be able to play soon. www.guitarampkeyboard.com/options.php?id=77568 Edited August 18, 2008 by aceuggy Quote
