Fuzz

I want to try a fuzz, it's just to play around with and see what kind of effects I can get from it so I don't want to spend too much. I thought about an Ashdown Drive Plus, but read a few comments here and it doesn't seem to get good reviews amongst Bass Chatters, that's the kind of money I would want to spend. Any thoughts or recommendations on this would be greatfully received.

[quote name='voxpop' post='263511' date='Aug 16 2008, 10:36 AM']Hi There,
I've got a T-Rex Bass Juice for sale @ £100 including postage.
It is as new , boxed with a great fuzz / overdrive sound.

Thanks.

Hi Marc, thanks for the offer, but that's about £50 more than I want to spend!

When you say fuzz, what kind of sound are you after? If you want versatility to experiment with, maybe a Zoom Ultra Fuzz would be best. Fuzz is so personal, it's hard to take a recommendation. I don't like Big Muffs, for example. Others love them.

To blow your mind go to www.deviever.com/fx .More flavours of fuzz than going into a Baskin Robbins full of off-duty police and snogging the lot of them.

Hi,

I posted a similar question to Justin Meldal-Johnsen on Talkbass & got some good recommendations

Also, this guy's site is pretty good

Good luck in your search, though as already mentioned fuzz taste is quite personal

Cheers

Inspired by what I heared on the deviever.com site, I've just had a session on my GT6B.
Dialing in, compression-dbx 160, Muff and phaser, I managed to get a sound that ripps through with loads of fundamental and face melting grit.
If anyone can find a GT6B for a good price, buy it, they are amazing. I've had mine for a few years now and it is always delivering the goods.
The settings I had each effect will be wildly different for each bass and playing style.

Bass Big Muff is what I have decided on. It doesn't look complicated to use it's small and dedicated to bass, plus it's within my budget. Ordered one and hope to be able to play soon.
