Hope that these end up in schools, etc - making music more accessible can only help inspire young people to get involved with music. Just hope that I don't find somewhere that sells them - could be an easy impulse buy...

Well, it's high tech ( for a toy IMHO ) . For me , it reminds me too much of Chad valley meets guitar hero.never had guitar hero, but could never get used to my friends. Just felt wrong. Interesting to see how well it does.

They appear to have educational affiliates in the USA. Be great to get them in schools elsewhere wouldn't it.

I am very seriously considering buying one. Trouble is for double the cash they do a hand crafted wood-backed one, I want that!

Sorry nigel ;) it's probably me being a it old fashioned. It does look like a load of fun. It's not quite guitar , not quite keyboard but very keyboard like in terms of features.
I know it's app related . As mentioned above, it's very educational and would be good for schools etc.Woulc it be played in the dog and duck ? ;)

More fun at a tenth of the price.

That's what I would have taken to the LBGS yesterday to get it signed by Dave Swift. Sadly, I didn't buy a ticket.

See, I view it as a very serious instrument. I don't see my basses and guitars as 'fun'. Only drums are 'fun' ;)

Seems such a simple idea right under our noses all the time, why didn't I think of it.

Guys a genisus, I wish him well, and want to be the first to gig one , at least around here

It looks amazing - in a clever little package - go anywhere with. I'll put 1 as #1 on my birthday list for Jan next, I'll be 65  & got too many basses already! :P

I've seen this reported in a few mags over the past couple of weeks, and I'm obviously missing something
Isn't it basically a MIDI controller with a couple of gimmicks thrown in? Along the lines of http://yourockguitar.com/ , but made to look less like a guitar.

Looks gimmicky. But I reckon that's got legs.

What, screw-on jobs like a console steel?

It's a music controller for hipsters. And you know what we think about them round here.

The hardware is a little like a slimmed down Synthaxe, though I guess most of the clever stuff happens in the software (I haven't watched the video yet). I'm surprised they didn't include a 5-pin Midi socket though - that would make it seem more like a useful gigging tool.

The most radical thing about it is the the price (provided that once it's for sale in the UK it's not priced at £ = $). Essentially it's just the logical progression from the Synthaxe, Yamaha EZ-EG, Starr Labs controllers and the YouRock Guitar.

Personally I'm still waiting for David Vorhaus to turn his Kaliedophon into a proper commercial product.
