stubass Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Bought myself a standard precision a couple of weeks ago but wasn't too keen on the weird greenish scratchplate. So I decided to change it out, and the pups, and add ashtrays I was worried they would get in the way but it was cool, didn't mind them at all at rehearsal yesterday. The scratchplate was from cwgp2010 on eBay and fit perfectly and the pickup is an ex wizard thumper, ashtrays genuine fender. Really happy, first time I'd played a p with a band in years, it was like meeting an old friend! They really do cut through the mix. Big smiles from the drummer. Finally finished my jazz too, she'll get her debut next week. Quote

Geek99 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 That's a hot looking pair (second time I thought that today) Quote
stubass Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 Thanks gents, my only issue was with the scratchplate screw hole below the output jack, it was a bit slack and caused a bit of movement when I plugged in. Ye olde cocktail stick and glue did the job. Essential items in the tool bag. I shielded the cavity with aluminium foil tape while I was there too. Quote
inate_hex Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 White n maple looks classy. I'll never forget the first time I played a p bass in a band, it sounded pure magic. It even sounded great with just the drums and bass. I have used that eBay seller for a pickguard before. Great quality and great prices. Quote
