Joebethell
Sold as per the Usual. As far as i know these are pretty rare. I brought this amp a few years ago and it was in a sorry state i had it refurbished by a guy who specialised in valve amps and in Mesa (Aston Electronics). i believe it is one of the first amps mesa brought into the UK but have been unable to prove this. The amp is working has a fair few knocks/marks and general wear it had a switch changed as can been seen in the photos and if you are using the fan it makes a ticking sound since the amp has been fitted into a Gator Case. Its not perfect but it works and has never let me down and sound Epic really powerful for a 180watt amp blows most modern amps away which are rated at much higher wattage. Use as is or spend more money on restoring in further. This will be collection only due to size and Weight. Shaggy
I have one of these and it's hands down the best and most practical all-valve amp I've ever had Plenty of power headroom; not back-breakingly heavy like a 400 (and only six power valves to change), and unlike the 400 can be easily overdriven into filthy distortion or do crystal clear - it was launched as a dual purpose guitar or bass amp and the "guitar" channel has the same cascade gain saturation circuitry as the legendary early '80's Mesa Boogie "Mark series" guitar amps. Dazed
Hi Do you know the weight? Is it in a flight case, difficult to tell in the pics What work does it need? Oh yeah, what valves are in it and how much use have they had? Thanks Edited March 13, 2015 by Dazed
Joebethell
Hi i don't know the weight it is heavy though and it is in the Gator case yes. Valves are 6x Mesa STR440 and 4 tone valves 12x7 type seen around 8 to 10 hours playing time. Work wise as i said in the listing its a fully working amp but if you were picky you could tidy the chassis, one handle on the front is loose but because the head is flight cased it never bothered me.The only issue i have had in use is the fan noise. Hope that helps it is a Mega head and i know I'm going to regret selling it
Dazed
Thanks for the reply. Is the fan noisy or a bit dicky? Whereabouts are you?
Joebethell
Im in East Staffordshire. The fan is just noisy I'm sure if you got the amp out the flight case an got to the mounting screws and fettled it you could get it better. You don't need the fan for normal use just recommends the fan when using the amp in racking with other units or for hard/prolonged use.

richardd
These are great valve amps I had one but but sadly stolen about 12 years ago,The warmest valve sound you can get with loads of power,Heavy but well worth the lift,Cannot remember Joe but does it go down to 2ohm's
Joebethell
Hi Rich i think it does go down to 2Ohms as the speaker outs are two 8Ohms and two 4Ohms on the back.

richardd
Hi Joe,Read the manual,it only goes to 4 ohms, as the way it is wired if you are running two 4 ohm cabs you have to use both 4 ohm speaker outs, and they both run at 4 ohm's each, not bringing it down to 2,But what great valve amps theses are.GLWYS.Rich
