andytoad Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 hello all, seen a few 9v microsynths on here recently, i wondered how they compared to the older 24v? any experinces? ive had the 24v one since new, about 10 years and found it to need a hug every now and again. did ehx improve the build quality with the 9v? does the 9v sound as good or better? Sibob Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 I'd say that the 9v doesn't sound as good, but is a bit more convenient. I've never had a build quality issue with new EHX pedals, but I know Juan Alderete won't take them out on tour as he's had a bunch break on him, sticks to the old ones. Si Quote
lapolpora Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I've had both though not at the same time. I had the 24v first. I can't say I really noticed a difference with the 9v. Smaller, lighter and can run of a power brick. Possibly slightly quieter than the 24v. Maybe I'd notice a difference in tone with then side by side. But the 9v is a good pedal and can stand up on its own. Quote
andytoad Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 mines seen better days really, sounds great though. i was tempted by the 9v for the power brick option as mentioned, think i will stay with the 24v Quote
bartelby Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015
but I know Juan Alderete won't take them out on tour as he's had a bunch break on him, sticks to the old ones.
To be fair, he's had a few pedals die recently and not just EHX. He had a Meat Box die a week or so ago... Quote
Sibob Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 DOD switches are pants though lol. To be fair, he must smash down on his pedals as I know he sometimes has Boss pedals break on him.......there's still Boss pedals that work in Chernobyl Si Quote
NoirBass Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 +1 Cockroaches and Boss pedals were the only survivors apparently. :-) Quote
