Dapper Bandit
The only name that comes to mind would be Oblivionized. If you're not dead set on UK/up-and-coming I would recommend Discordance Axis and Gridlink most highly. Proper eargasm bands.
If you're into doom, Electric Wizard and Conan are spectacular.
Played with Conan a few weeks ago. Immensely loud. tedmanzie
Friend of mine is part of this band Entermienum. Album came out last year and a new one is on the way. Their bandcamp tags are alternative industrial metal goth hardcore industrial noise So if that sounds up your street then click this! > https://entermienum....bum/entermienum Edited March 18, 2015 by tedmanzie

Merton
I'd like to add Furyon to the list but I can't. Their first album is cracking but their second is turgid MOR bollocks (IMHO ) The first album is full of swagger, gear changes mid song, awesome playing and arranging. The second just doesn't have the same balls and feels formulaic by comparison. Two new guitarists you see, makes all the difference. So check out Gravitas by Furyon but avoid the other one (forgotten its name already it's that good haha)
Whitechapel Murders, got some links in me signature down there. Don't know if you've seen them as yet but make sure you invest in good earplugs, they use 2 full stacks each. The organiser was handing free foam cheapie ones out on the door but I bumped into people days later who were still ringing! cheddatom
The Hell are very amusing, and very heavy. Ace live Colibra from Manchester are pretty cool Hacktivist are ace, but might not be heavy enough? Zoax are pretty groovy I'll be checking out some of the recommendations in here, thanks! megallica
If youre a fan of 80s thrash like me Gama bomb are worth checking out. not uk metal but municipal waste have a good thrashy sound also. Both of these bands have been around for a few years and are quite well established now More established bands but the most recent albums from death angel, testament, overkill, exodus, anthrax and kreator I really enjoyed also flotsam and jetsam, trouble, voivod and down have fairly new albums that I really enjoyed recently

silky13
I went to a cracking festival last year (Les Fest in Lanarkshire, Scotland) and saw a load of UK based metal acts... I really enjoyed: Savage Messiah (wouldn't call these guys new though) Mask of Judas Disposable Martyr de mona Fahran Another band recently seen that were good were The Sun Explodes (Carlisle based) My mates band is pretty heavy and seems to be getting some decent success around Scotland with Bleed from within tour support and that their name is Excellent Cadaver. Check them out too.

doomed
Both my bands make a bit of a racket if you want to follow the link in my signature, Doomchild is a harsher heavier vocal style, Beneath the Divine is a more traditional vocal style, still heavy though, nothing too technical, tune low, play slow... and LOUD. hairychris
You might like Anaal Nathrakh who are one of my favourite bands, apocalyptic black metal/grind. The new Behemoth record - The Satanist - is a belter I'd give that a spin, some good bass playing on there too. If you're into doom, Electric Wizard and Conan are spectacular.
Anaal Nathrakh are monsters. Love them. Only slight downside is that their live sound has suffered a bit since making the switch to Orange Dark Terror guitar amps. If you're into complete mayhem I'd also recommend Dragged Into Sunlight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0Rf8N_kPCs
On the Doomy side there's Serpent Venom. Their bass player is a proper lovely bloke. http://serpentvenom....ngs-seen-unseen Then, for something a bit harsher, there's Piss Viper. My wife works with the drummer and went to their first ever gig a couple of weeks ago. http://pissviper.bandcamp.com/releases And the wonderfully noisy Oaf. The bass player is Dom Lawson, the music journalist, and another top bloke. http://oafmusic.bandcamp.com I'll mention Beholder, too, the band that Piss Viper were supporting. They're from my old town and I played with their old guitarist, who now produces their albums instead, in my first ever proper band. https://beholderuk.wordpress.com
The UK doom scene is absolutely insane right now. Soooo many good bands. As for Serpent Venom... Yeah, all are good blokes. Nick has just ordered a Barefaced Vintage 6x10 (for those gear geeks amongst us) and is a silly bugger of the highest order. Adrenochrome
I'm not really up on modern UK metal but I quite like Sempeternal by Bring Me The Horizon. I like industrial and electronic stuff as well which might explain why I enjoy it.
sykilz
What I really really want is a great, original, powerful metal band....BUT with a singer who actually sings....not a grunt/screamer. Don't have to be all operatic, cos that gets on my nerves too, but Hetfield style, even some Anselmo stuff is great, but enough with the wierd noises!!!! Truckstop
Thanks for all the suggestions, gents. Have checked out the ones I've not heard of and I've found a couple I think I'll try and see at some point. Whitechapel Murders and Dragged into Sunlight in particular. Ps. Yeah, there's a lot of Doom out there!
